Barricades in the Wild.⠀

Locking the entrance of the forest from the main road, barricades have been set by the activists to slow down any eviction process. Starting in 2012, the Hambach Forest occupation settlements have slowed the expansion of the Tagebau Hambach coal mine for the last five years. With 17 tree houses and about 50 activists, the movement is specialised in avoiding eviction tactics from the authorities. Elsdorf, Germany, November 7th 2017.⠀

A Smarter World: Green Solutions for A Changing Climate". #cop23

Team Leader @ninoamigo in action at @mycorpsofficial Mission to Africa, giving talks about Climate Change and Global Warming to the volunteers and making them understand of the weather situation and climate conditions of the places they'll be going to this January. This will also help them realize and understand of how this affects the socio-economic, politics, culture and living conditions of the locals in places they will be deployed to.

This photo was taken by photographer @jasonbhouston for
@chrisfagan_uac and shared with the UNF a campaign dedicated to raising awareness of climate change impacts and solutions around the @UnitedNations’ Annual Meeting on Climate Change, #COP23. "Because of unpredictable flow levels and more and more rapid changes in the river courses, river travel, which is essential for regional trade around Puerto Breu, Peru, is becoming increasingly difficult. Human habitation of the Amazon can be traced back over 10,000 years, and over that time the indigenous tribes who live there have become intimately adapted to the predictable, well-established seasonality that defines these forests. The effects and impacts of #climatechange including rising temperatures and unstable hydrological cycles is leading to a laundry list of threats to those living in the Amazon, including more frequent drought, decreasing fish stocks, increasing prevalence of malaria and other diseases, crop failures, and forest fire.” -@jasonbhouston

“I feel a strong connection to the Arctic and a responsibility to document the effects of climate change on our most fragile environment. Arctic ice regulates global climate, including the distribution of heat, and patterns of rainfall or snowfall. Extreme weather events, such as flooding, fires, storm surges, heat waves may be amplified by the loss of Arctic summer sea ice.
.
The Greenland ice sheet is up to 3 km thick and would raise sea levels by seven meters if it all melted into the ocean. Climate scientists suggest that there is a possibility of a sea level rise of one or two meters through the end of the century. If average temperature increases 2°C by 2100, 130 million people would be affected by the rising sea levels. With a 4°C warming, between 470 million and 760 million people living in coastal areas would be impacted.
