Regrann from @thehungrypt - I know myself and many others have most certainly been guilty of this. The most recent Empow(her) podcast with @gynaegeek and @drzoewilliams was absolutely brilliant. These are the types of people I aspire to, those working not just with people who can afford private healthcare or PT but behind the scenes on a personal level to improve national health.
Weight and health gets talked about a lot but there’s so much more to it than body fat %. There are currently huge problems with female fertility (caused by being both over and underweight), childhood obesity and attitudes towards exercise - particularly in young women without ‘athletic’ role models, aesthetic/performance goals being put on pedestals over health, a lack of communication and proliferation of ‘mainstream’ fitness.
More of us in the world of sport, fitness, PT, medicine, social care need to be collaborating to share these kinds of messages. Through better regulation/education of fitness professionals, a mutual respect/understanding between trainers/doctors/physios/dietitians/ coaches etc about scopes of practise and how to utilise a larger network of people to benefit those you treat/train/counsel on a daily basis.
We are not all athletes but we are all people and nobody’s health should be undervalued.

I‘m a creature of habit and tend to make the same meals... they’re easy and require minimal preparation. Recipe below: ➡️ 175g thigh fillets (skinless) seasoned with Nando’s marinade, garlic granules, salt and chicken seasoning fried with a very small quantity of oil

Et je vous parle même pas de la roue, MALHEUUUUUR. 😂 Alors vous comprenez ma tête de « ALOOOORS Y’A QUOIIII » (photo 3) quand j’ai enfin réussi à le faire lors de ma seconde tentative. Mais il a duré...2sec... 😓

2: Nager 🏊🏻‍♀️.... sans me boucher le nez 👃🏻.... Soit je me noies par les narines, soit j’ai plus d’air au bout de 2sec à force de souffler pour pas que ça rentre... L’option « pince avec les doigts » a vite été adopté 😂. Donc si vous voyez un manchot qui nage avec un bras: c’est bibi. 🙋🏻‍♀️ 3: Siffler 🗣️... Je ne m’étendrais même pas là-dessus 😒😹 4: Loucher.... Idem 🙄 (coucou mauvaise foi)

5: Faire un clin d’œil.... Ceci expliquerait donc pourquoi ça fait fuir les hommes quand je les drague comme ça... 🤔😂 A part que: on dirait que j’ai un toc... Je n’ai rien d’autre à dire 😅

Current shape. I know, I could do with a tan 🙄 I have been asked a couple of times if I am competing again this year. The short answer is no. I made the decision in early January and I must admit I was devastated for a good week or two. Competition prep is a very demanding process... It requires a lot of time, energy, extreme dedication and 💸💸. It is quite challenging to do it on the side of a full time job. I also have some other priorities this year and taking all of that into consideration, I decided against it. Will I ever do it again? I like to think so... but only time will tell. Regardless, fitness is my passion and I will keep chasing those 🎃 shoulders and that 🍑 bottom.
This is one of yesterday’s check in photos, which are sent to the coach on a regular basis to monitor and evaluate progress. Yesterday I also had my first treat meal this year... a really yummy and super cheesy pizza. It was heaven!! But I am happy to be back to eating my prepped meals and I feel re-energised today. I even chose to train the muscle groups I dread the most: quads and calves 🙆‍♀️😫 You know you killed it when you have a hard time climbing up the stairs to leave the gym 👊🏼

Why you shouldn’t compare yourself to fitness pages on IG:
1) You see what we choose to let you see. While I try to keep it real with you guys, I do post the pictures that I like most of myself. Meaning I flex, pose, and work with good lighting just like everyone else.
2) We don’t walk around looking like our pictures all of the time. In this picture, one is of me flexed, with my pants pulled high, while the other is with my pants at my hips with a regular posture. These pictures are both 100% me about 10 seconds apart. 95% of the time I look more like the picture on the right.
3) WE HAVE FLAWS. We aren’t always 100% confident in how we look. The second picture highlights something I usually hide by wearing my pants above my hips, but I have lose skin. And a good amount of it. Especially on my stomach, boobs, and thighs. It’s not cute. But I lost nearly 70lbs so it’s there.
4) We definitely (or I’d say at least most of us) don’t follow our own advice ALL of the time. We don’t always stick strictly to our meal/workout plans. So don’t feel bad when you get a little off track. I promise you’re not the only one.
5) It is not easier for us. People tell me a lot “I wish I had your motivation.” And while I appreciate the compliment, just know I am NOT always motivated. It’s hard. Every day is a choice. And some days I don’t make the right one.
👉🏻 the take away: don’t compare yourself to people on IG. Ultimately, we all post our highlight reel. We don’t always post when we are struggling. Comparison is the thief of joy. Do your own thing and rock it‼️
