#ThighRollThursday

My posts for #myhousethismonth 🏡 have been derailed by sleepless nights- I blame teething! This little munchkin finally had her first tooth pop through and one more right behind. So here’s my adorable one for #ThighRollThursday 💘 #babylove #teething #babygirl #teethingbaby #momlife #ankaradress #woodinfashion

Fresh from a nappy change. I had excitedly texted my husband to report that Max finally did A Massive One (no really, it went all the way down his side and his back, so off to the sink we went) after two days of nothing. The other day, I saw my husband sniffing Max's bum to check if he had a dirty diaper.

Well, that's it - we are officially the parents we used to laugh about, the ones who watch their baby's toileting habits like a hawk and celebrate the days when they find the baby with soiled nappies. Who knew we could be this excited about poo?

#ThighRollThursday. Yes, it’s a thing! Use the hashtag. Share the squish.
Can I ask an honest question?
-
How did you handle the weight gain of pregnancy? I ❤️ the squishy rolls on babies, but if I’m honest... I really struggled with my post-pregnancy body. I looked at my own rolls with disgust. 😔I wish I had the attitude of so many Instagram mamas: “My body is freaking amazing! I just grew a child.”
-
I didn’t have that approach. In fact, I don’t even remember hearing that message a few years ago after my babies were born.
-
If you haven’t been told that your body is incredible after the birth of your baby, can I be the first? YOUR BODY IS INCREDIBLE! You just grew a human! Each and every roll and mark is a badge of honor!
-
In this business, I encounter so many woman who struggle for so long to be mamas. They would gladly carry an extra 30, 40, 50 pounds just to hold a baby in their arms. That perspective is so humbling to me.
-
Healthy living following the baby is important:
*Eat foods that make you feel good and give you energy. (Protein helps regulate blood sugar.)
*Go on walks. (Activity and light raise your seratonin levels and actually help your baby to sleep at night.)
*Be active when you can, but add one more step:
*Speak positively about your body. It might just be the biggest part.
-
How do you love your body?

Happy #ThighRollThursday to you! Use the hashtag, let’s see the rolls!
Today’s topic: T U M M Y T I M E
Start to put your baby on his tummy as early as the first week of life. Just make sure your baby is awake and directly supervised. (Try to wait 10-20 minutes after eating.)
-
Even just a few minutes, 2-3 times a day is beneficial. Gradually work up to longer periods throughout the day.
-
Tummy Time can:
• Provide practice for developmental milestones, like rolling over, sitting upright, and crawling
• Boost gross motor skills
• Help prepare for tummy sleeping once he learns to roll
• Engage lesser-used muscle groups
• Prevent plagiocephaly (aka flat head syndrome)
• Help baby master head control
• Alleviate gas pain
• Expose baby to a different environment
-
If your baby hates tummy time, get on his level and talk to him face-to-face. You can also place him on his tummy on top of your tummy or put him on your legs while you’re laying on your back (like playing airplane).
-
What are ways you incorporate tummy time into your baby’s awake time?

Ummm...does anyone know how long you microwave a 25 pound turkey? Let’s face it, my family is probably going to end up at a restaurant before this day is over.
-
We will return to our regularly scheduled #ThighRollThursday next week. Load up on those carbs and long live the thigh rolls!
-
On a serious note, thank you to so many who sent kind messages and prayers after seeing my story. I’m just incredibly thankful today. My son’s bleeding disorder is currently under control. 🙌🏻

This #ThighRollThursday is all about falling in love with your sweet baby for the first time.
-
For some, the moment your eyes meet, your heart explodes: forever bonded and deeply in love. Yes, SOMETIMES it IS like that. However, if you are pregnant and no one has mentioned this, let me be the first. Not everyone INSTANTLY falls madly, head-over-heels in love with their newborn at first sight.
-
Sometimes... pain, exhaustion, circumstances, unmet expectations, scenarios, and LIFE take a front seat to instantaneous bonding. If that happens, it’s OKAY!
-
As a former Labor and Delivery nurse, I’ve watched INCREDIBLE mamas everywhere on the spectrum; from falling in love instantly to needing a day (or ten) to feel that “you are my world” elation. No matter how it happens for you, let me reassure you, it WILL happen. It’s a love like no other. It’s a bond that is unbreakable. It will be YOUR story to tell, and it will be beautiful.
-
@shelbyjo describes this love beautifully in her caption to this photo, “Looking at her is like looking at a rainbow. No matter how many times you’ve seen one, something about it makes you stop and acknowledge the beauty, the extraordinariness of it. She takes every sorrow I’ve ever had, the sadness like water droplets, and her light bends and refracts them. She is every color. She’s the whole magnificent sky.” 🌈
-
Yes, It’s a love like no other. It will happen in its own time. When did you first feel it?
