#ThighRollThursday

Ummm...does anyone know how long you microwave a 25 pound turkey? Let’s face it, my family is probably going to end up at a restaurant before this day is over.
-
We will return to our regularly scheduled #ThighRollThursday next week. Load up on those carbs and long live the thigh rolls!
-
On a serious note, thank you to so many who sent kind messages and prayers after seeing my story. I’m just incredibly thankful today. My son’s bleeding disorder is currently under control. 🙌🏻

This #ThighRollThursday is all about falling in love with your sweet baby for the first time.
-
For some, the moment your eyes meet, your heart explodes: forever bonded and deeply in love. Yes, SOMETIMES it IS like that. However, if you are pregnant and no one has mentioned this, let me be the first. Not everyone INSTANTLY falls madly, head-over-heels in love with their newborn at first sight.
-
Sometimes... pain, exhaustion, circumstances, unmet expectations, scenarios, and LIFE take a front seat to instantaneous bonding. If that happens, it’s OKAY!
-
As a former Labor and Delivery nurse, I’ve watched INCREDIBLE mamas everywhere on the spectrum; from falling in love instantly to needing a day (or ten) to feel that “you are my world” elation. No matter how it happens for you, let me reassure you, it WILL happen. It’s a love like no other. It’s a bond that is unbreakable. It will be YOUR story to tell, and it will be beautiful.
-
@shelbyjo describes this love beautifully in her caption to this photo, “Looking at her is like looking at a rainbow. No matter how many times you’ve seen one, something about it makes you stop and acknowledge the beauty, the extraordinariness of it. She takes every sorrow I’ve ever had, the sadness like water droplets, and her light bends and refracts them. She is every color. She’s the whole magnificent sky.” 🌈
-
Yes, It’s a love like no other. It will happen in its own time. When did you first feel it?

Camouflaged! Thank goodness for those thigh rolls or we wouldn’t have seen her! 🤣 Happy #ThighRollThursday! Use the hashtag. Let’s see all the lovely baby squish today.

As winter approaches, let’s talk about keeping our sleeping babes warm without overheating them. Some research supports a room temperature of 68-72. How warm is it in your home? It’s 77 degrees right now in mine. I would be FREEZING ❄️ in 68 degrees. Perhaps I’m just a desert🌵girl? You?
-
Here’s a good rule of thumb: match your baby’s clothing to yourself while sleeping.
-
If you sleep in a t-shirt with a light blanket, just match it! Put your baby in a onsie and a sleep sack. (Remember, no loose bedding in the crib.) Let’s say you have warm pajamas with a comforter. Maybe your little one needs thick jammies and a swaddle. Do you see how we dress the baby to match us?
-
Your baby’s neck and chest should feel warm; hands and feet can be cool but not cold. Watch out for signs of overheating: sweating, wet hair, red cheeks, rapid breathing, and restlessness. If you see any of these, remove a layer (under the swaddle) or decrease the room temperature.
-
If you’re comfortable and baby isn’t showing signs of overheating, she’s probably comfortable too!!

Happy #ThighRollThursday! (Best hashtag on Instagram.☺️) Let’s see some baby squish today.
-
Swipe ➡️... check out the mirror being utilized during tummy time. Did you know that the human face is mesmerizing for a baby? Also, looking in a mirror is actually a learning experience for little ones. The mirror helps your baby learn how to focus, track images, and explore the wonderful things a face can do. Soon this translates into understanding cause and effect!
-
If your little one isn’t keen on tummy time, try adding in a mirror and/or getting your face down on her level.

On a side note, which baby product do you use more than any other? Pregnant mamas, take notes. These are the “must haves”. ❤️ (Click the link in bio. Look under “Sleep products”. I try to work with companies to help save you some 💰 on my favorite items!)
