Gladys Maria Knight Born on May 28, 1944, in Atlanta Georgia, Started out on the road to success at an early age.  She made Her Solo Debut at the age of 4, Singing at The Mount Mariah Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Not long after, She won a prize for her performance on The Televised Ted Mack Amateur Hour.

In 1952, an 8-year-old Knight formed "The Pips" With Her Brother Merald ("Bubba")and Her Sister Brenda. Along With Her Cousins, Elenor, William, Edward and Langston.

The group first recorded for the Brunswick label in 1958 and dented the charts with “Every Beat of My Heart” and “Letter Full of Tears," Both Released in 1961 on Fury Records. Gladys Knight & the Pips Then signed with Motown’s Soul label in 1966. Motown founder Berry Gordy, who saw them perform at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in 1966, Made Note of Knight’s “Class, also Artistry & That Gladys Stage Presence Was Superb. Her Audience Loved Her.
At Motown, Gladys Knight and the Pips quickly rose to prominence with their version of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” (Number One R&B, Number Two pop),
A Number of Hits were Made.
Later, The group moved On To Buddah Records in 1973, where they had their Biggest Hit Ever!!! “MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO GEORGIA" The Song Became a Number One Hit On The Charts, & All Around The World Still To This Day.. & Gladys Became, 👑THE EMPRESS OF SOUL👑
