Tapi mereka semua menorehkan banyak pembelajaran hidup. Itu yang saya suka dari novel ini
.
Bersambung lagi besok, ya^^

"Nooooo!" my procrastinating self screams in realizing that I actually have to do stuff, and be an adult again since the semester started. - A Journal of My Current College Years. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The up side to this whole college thing is that I commute, and you know what I do during those hours of driving? I listen to the greatest audio book ever! My library had The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson on audio book, and since I loved reading the book, I thought I would probably like its audio book... but I dont just like it, I love it! I definitely recommend it. -----
Wishing you guys many happiness, meanwhile I will be very unpleasently studying for my math class :(

I just finished #zenith by #sashaalsberg @ and #lindsaycummings @ OH. MY. DEAR. GOD. I AM DEAD. I HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED. I HAVE GONE INTO THE NEXT WORLD BECAUSE GUYS THIS BOOK... THIS IS LIKE NUMBER 2 ON MY FAVS OF 2018 (cuz Queen of Air and Darkness is already 1 😂😂) But I'm so serious right now, the world that Sasha and Lindsay created, the Mirabel galaxy along with the politics just blew my mind every time I turned the page!!! And I honestly didn't see that *exact* plot twist towards the end, I saw something very similar, and the acTUAL END OHMYGOD I JUST STARED AT THAT LAST PAGE FOR FIVE MINUTES NOT BELIEVING WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SASHA AND LINDSAY WE NEED IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This novel about girl pirates and politics and vengeance becomes so much MORE than that, it became a world so real and so vivid that it felt like it was happening around me and I saw all these characters in my head so vibrantly and... I'm in love with Andi and her crew and I need more. Please????? So like needless to say, EVERY SINGLE STAR IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE OHMYGOD ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I LOVED IT

#currentlyreading #unearthed by #amiekaufman and #meaganspooner This is another sci-fi adventure series by the amazing duo who wrote the Starbound trilogy!!!! This novel is about when Earth intercepts a message from an extinct alien race who might have stuff to save the human race from dying. And our two main characters must fight together to scavenge the planet on a very unstable alliance. This sounds like such a perfect Kaufman and Spooner novel and I'm sooooo excited!!!!!!

I am pretty damn sure Justice Scalia never envisioned a 30-something feminist reading a book he co-authored in cheetah print PJs after a [few] glasses of wine. Overall review: 5/5 stars for lawyerish readers.

I would recommend this book to every lawyer who appears in court. Every one of you. Even... ok especially... if it is only a few times a year. This is an apolitical book about being a good lawyer from the perspective of a highly experienced appellate judge and legal writing expert. Read this book before you file even one more thing in court!

BookReview: "Darkside II - Power and Violence, Disease and Death Photographed", ed. Urs Stahel, 9783865219251
#bookreview #frommylibrary #photobook
---
I’ll start with something I enjoy in the book. It presents an interesting mix of photography style. Photograph that created with a controlled visual and/or concept (art photo), documentation photo (photo of deceased people), journalistic photo and even extracted images from a video. Its rare to find this mix presented in one space, usually each try to be distinct and stay within their own style.
I’ll not recommend the book if you’re faint hearted. As you explore the book, you’ll find numerous disturbing/gory images and for some would consider it unethical/unfit for publication. Images of bodies, blood, dead people, internal organs are just some example. But then again this is the dark side, the curation and editing intentionally violate the “politically correct” images.
The books also presents 10 writing from 10 different authors that explore the relation between photography and the dark side of man (violence, war, disease, death, etc). The application and implication of photography or even our attachment and indulgence for the images.
While in photography writing it excels and provide a fresh view. The visual narrative struggles to convey. The connection between an image with the prev/next one is either too obvious or unrelated. The visual section feels more like category rather than chapter. Take example the photograph of Michael Jackson by Valêrie Belin, it falls under section titled "the image of the self, intrusion, destruction". The definition is so strict it limits the possibility of the audience to interpret differently.
In the end, i still love this book but with a different take. Not as a visual narative book buat as a photo writing book with photography to convey its message. i am curious as how these images is presented in the exhibition, it might radiates a different vibe.

*the book accompanies photo exhibition with the same title at Fotomuseum Winterthur (5 Sept - 15 Nov 2009)

OKAY SO right off trigger warning~ this book has rape and death obviously so if you don't want to read that this is not for you.
Stars: 4.5/5 ☆☆☆☆ Anywho, the book had a good start. It was emotional and well written. Sometimes it was funny because teen girl talk. Then there was the middle of the book. The middle was fine, some character development. My problem with the middle (and throughout the rest of the book) there is SO MUCH SEX. There is underage sex, affairs, and Susie being a total perv. Most of the sex scenes and the mentions of it are totally unneeded. The few sexual happenings that were somewhat relevant where just slightly skimmed over a few times. Towards the end the chapters would keep dragging on, little to nothing that helped the plot move happened. A large chunk of the book was so boring that I had to push myself to read it. There were so many places where the author could have stopped and have a perfect ending, it appeared as though she was trying to meet a page count. The last chapter was where she played catch up and tied the whole thing in a cute bow. Now this book wasn't bad at all. A lot of it was quite enjoyable so I would recommend it to someone if the chance arises but it would not be on my top 10 to recommend.~T { #thelovelybones #thelovelybonesbook #alicesebold #bookreview #thelovelybonesbookreview #thelovelybonesreview #book #read #bookish #bookstagram #review }

The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman | 5/10

Genre: #YAfantasy

Synopis: A girl living alone among male scholars learns about the secrets within the Northern Lights and an organization that is kidnapping children to run experiments. She makes her way to the North in an attempt to help rescue the children but discovers a lot more while there.

Review: I really wanted to enjoy this classic YA book but struggled with much of the books undertones. My favorite characters of the book were the daemons and the armor-clad bears (who I originally pictured as grizzlies and had to keep reminding myself that they were polar bears for the rest of the book) by far. I'm going to read the other books in the series because it is such a quintessential trilogy but I'm really hoping the books get better as the series progresses. 5/10

I posted earlier that today I was listening to one of Gary Chapman’s books titled “Thing I Wish I Knew Before We Got Married” & I definitely enjoyed it. I wrote down a few key pointers that stood out to me & I shared them on my blog site. If you are in relationship & you haven’t read (or listened) to this book...I think you absolutely should. Entering a marriage takes great preparation & books like this give great insight.

"You can’t change how other people think and act, but you’re in full control of you." I bought #NicStone's #DearMartin last year for my birthday, but I never got around to read it until today. I am so glad I bought this book, and I am so glad I ended up reading it. It hits you hard. Oh, my dear Lord. It hit me hard. And I loved it so much. It tackles very important topics in an eye-opening way and I just want to read more stories like this. I will make an effort to read stories like this. "Justyce is a good kid. An honor student. On his way to Yale. So why is he the one in handcuffs?" #Bookstagram #BookReview(ish)

One of my new year’s resolutions: read more. This is the first book I finished this year. I chose an easy read because I wasn’t prepared to face anything serious and wanted to start on a light note. I randomly picked this novel just because i saw some famous names on the back cover, not knowing it had a faminist undertone to it. Is this fate? It’s about three women who are each trapped in their lives and are trying to break out of what brings them down, discrimination, prejudice or karma, and their fights are somehow connected to each other. For someone who is facing a new challenge, it could give an extra boost of confidence. As for me, it made my subway ride more enjoyable. 😁

Hello people!

Hope you are doing well and of course reading a lot of books. It's been long that I have posted book reviews but will surely try to do it more frequently now.
Going straight to the book, "The one plus one " is yet another good book by Jojo Moyes.
The plot captures the various situations faced by the chaotic family. It takes you through the many struggles faced by single mums out there. It portrays beautifully how one optimistic person can turn into a pessimistic one but "hope" turns her back to her old self.

The male lead character also faces a lot of struggle and in between those he crosses roads with this family.

What continues is a funny series of events to cover up a time gap that seems impossible .
It's also captures various instances of bullying and how it affects a family in totality.
All in all it is a good book, maybe a little drag in the beginning but better once it gains it's pace.
It's a four starrer for me, two for the story, one for the mum, and one for Norman (Read the book to know)

Tell me i  the how was your experience with a book you recently read and also your views on The one plus one.

Until next time,

Love love.

First book of 2018! Jane by Aline Brosh McKenna. A modern retelling of Jane Eyre set in New York City. I was so excited to read this graphic novel as Jane Eyre is one of my favourite novels and this book was just too lovely not to buy. The art is beautiful and effective. I would definitely read another graphic novel with Ramon K. Perez as the illustrator. I just wished Jane was a series so it would give the story more room to breath. If you've read the original you'll recognize all of the major plot points and characters minus a few that are missing. But it is all squished and rushed. Threads were brought up and never fully explored or explained satisfactorily. It left me wanting to pick up the novel and give it a re-read. 3/5 #jane #janeeyre #graphicnovel #bookreview #bibliophile

Buku terbaik 2017 versi saya adalah Vegetarian, sebuah novel terjemahan karya Han Kang. Vegetarian terbagi dalam tiga bagian cerita yaitu Vegetarian, Tanda Lahir Kebiruan dan Pohon Kembang Api.
.
.
Bagian kedua mengambil sudut pandang kakak ipar Yeong-hye.

Begitupun, doodle nya comel-comel belaka.

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

Bel Canto is one of the most beautiful and tragic stories I have ever read. This is one of those books that everyone should read. Even if you’re iffy about it after the first 60-80 pages... persist and you will be rewarded. Aside from Patchett’s delicate and precise prose, the story telling, shifting narration, and the enigmatic array of wonderfully fleshed out characters is incredible. This is a template for good modern writing and a testament to the transcendent power of the novel. There’s something about illuminating the deficiencies of the human condition and comparing them to the redemptive power of love and connection that always gets me. This book and Commonwealth have cemented Ann Patchett as being one of my favourite novelists and I can’t recommend her enough.

FAMILY
I found Benita underneath the baobab
in Washington, D.C.
my anchor, rope, and kaleidoscope
that I view with half-shut eyes.
she rebirthed my calling -
not to be the brightest star
but to be the proudest dad
of two scions, picky eaters.
one made my bosom his pillow
the other trails me like a shadow
different, but alike in their little ways.
roots and wings, I’m bequeathing
roots to ground in respect, love and
perseverance like potter wasps
wings to soar above sullen skittles
that will litter their bumpy footpaths.

When counting my unread books, I forgot to count the ones I had on my kindle app😬
I just finished reading Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone and I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars
This book was such an easy and touching read about true friendship, love, and being comfortable in your own skin. The story follows Samantha "Sam" McAllister as she struggles to keep up her "normal" facade in front of her popular friends while also coping with severe OCD. Sam then finds a friend in Caroline, a not so popular girl who introduces her to a secret poetry club in her school, which allows Sam an outlet for her anxiety and obsessions. I enjoyed this book because it took a serious mental disorder and turned it into a heartfelt read. If you enjoyed Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, then you will like this book! Because let's face it, no one is actually "normal."
