My amazing husband built me a custom shelf for my reptiles! Now they are in the same room as the birds, and morning feeds will be so much easier. The shelf isn’t done yet. There will be a cabinet door over my roach area (middle row, middle shelf) and the remaining areas will be filled with tanks eventually. We already have a plan for each space, and dividers will be added to accommodate tank sizes.
Bottom left Is TeKa, our bearded dragon.
Middle left is the leapord geckos, uno and koi.
Middle right is Sahara, our full grown rankins dragon (Mini beardie).
How cute is Nacho’s little bus?! He’s only in it for the ride home, about 15 minutes. He seemed to like it and fell asleep in the weirdest position! Of course Frenchie comes home every night, but Nacho is just a weekender. (Swipe for more fluff!) #classpets #hamstersofinstagram #teachersofinstagram #iteachsecond #gatorrunrocks
Our STEM department is AMAZING! Rudy is my classroom bearded dragon 🦖, and I was hoping to get him an upgraded tank. •
So, the engineering class put together this incredible design, the wood shop class will cut all the parts, and the science class is going to put it all together!! >>
It’s even going to have live plants!! >>
Yay for teachers with weird #classpets !!

Do you have class pets? If so, what do you have? Share below! I love having these guys, and so do my kids. Other than these #skinnypigs (hairless #guineapigs), we have hermit crabs too. We always discuss the importance of proper care, which often guinea pigs and hermit crabs don't get because pet stores sell inappropriate cages and supplies.

Say hello to Piper! She’s our newest class pet. That brings out total to approximately 2303 pets. That’s 2000 worms, 300 trout, 2 salamanders, and 1 hedge hog. Unfortunately the trout numbers will decline significantly. Still, my students think we should be in the Guinness Book for number of class pets. Thanks again Rhonda! @bdavis6789 #classpets #hedgehog #mrskinders5thgrade #whitepineelementary #sciencerocks #tooexcited

I love this child. Saying goodbye to her crabbies last week. Her preschool let's you sign up to bring the class pets home. Mila was so excited so I signed her up for winter break so that she could have them for her birthday and Christmas and for a long time unlike the typical weekend. She loved having them so much! Sweet girl <3 I'm still in denial that she's 5...

•Speak Spanish to our class birds •Give hugs or a handshake when you make a mistake
•BOOKS! Lots of books •Build letters and share with our neighbor
•Sing our Hibernation Song
•Do jumping jacks while counting in Spanish---(THIS ONE IS TOUGH FOR ME BECAUSE THE KIDS ARE SO CUTE I JUST WANT TO LAUGH)
•And MORE!! It was a great first day back from winter break
The children came into class today and discovered that our African dwarf frogs were not moving. We scooped them out of the tank to investigate. “Maybe they’re just sleeping,” a few children supposed, until someone finally said what we all suspected, “Maybe they came to the end of their life cycle”. It was suggested that we put the frogs back in the water with some food. When we observed no change in the frogs, the children shared their theories about how the frogs met their end: a falling rock bonked them on their heads, they got hurt swimming too fast across the tank, someone came in and stepped on them, a reindeer (Christmas is still on our minds) came in and stepped on them...Because we’ve spoken so much about what living things need to survive, two girls wondered if the frogs had slept through their lunchtime and died from lack of food. Ideas about building a catapult and flinging the frogs into the pond for burial, or flushing them down the toilet to get to the sea, were tossed around. After months of indecision about what to name the frogs, they were buried as Carl and Pac-Man. #earlychildhoodeducation #earlychildhoodlearning #lifecycles #circleoflife #natureschool #naturelearning #classpets #scienceandnature #earlychildhoodscience #earlychildhoodlongisland
