Thanks for telling it like it is @leonardodicaprio - With fact upon fact available and scientists chiming in unison it's shocking that some people don't accept reality. 🌍 #climatechange #earth #climatejustice

Repost from @greenpeaceuk ........ People like to give #leonardodicaprio shit because he campaigns for climate change but has likely used many private jets, but is that really an excuse for not doing anything, or even believe in climate change? I think he's admirable and has done great things for building awareness #climatejustice

A few pieces of charcoal from the fire of Doñana which took place at the beginning of summer. They still have some sand residues from the water cannons. Part of a new project for a group show called ”lively forests” coming up next month. Stay tuned

One of the digital methodology I really look forward to studying as part of my #technoanthropology degree is #MAPS. So curious about the potential of creating collaborative and responsive mapping tools, to enable action at a large scale, and bring forth different types of knowledge...
This one is an inspiring example acting towards #climatejustice!

🚀 LAUNCHED TODAY: The #FossilFuelResistance Map is a critical new tool for the people-powered resistance to the fossil fuel industry.⠀

This map has been built by and for the local communities fighting oil and gas projects in their communities, and it's a resource for people everywhere to find, start, or join a campaign in their community to resist fossil fuel projects, and a way for folks involved in existing fights to connect with each other.⠀

From the Gulf Coast of Texas where people are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, to Washington State where wildfires are raging, the fight to stop fossil fuel projects is one for survival.⠀

From the #KeystoneXL and #DakotaAccess Pipelines to Bayou Bridge in Louisiana to Line 3 in Minnesota to the fracked gas Potomac Pipeline on the East Coast, wherever a new pipeline or dirty power plant is being proposed, communities are standing up to say no—and demand a just, clean energy-powered future instead. These aren’t isolated fights, but a groundswell of steadfast and widespread resistance across the continent. Our #ResistanceIsEverywhere.⠀

Check out this new map of our movement and plug in at fossilfuelresistance.org. ⠀

Once this place was lush green forests and elephants, rhinos, Orangutans, tigers live together in peace and harmony.
Huge chunks of rainforest are being converted into palm oil plantations every hour, leaving pieces of rainforest remaining in between them. OFI has been buying forest, including fragments near palm oil plantations, in order to expand forested areas and establish wildlife corridors

Orphaned Sumatran elephants, rarely make it to adulthood. Help us prevent human - elephant conflict. We have ordered two collars from the United States, and we'll be fitting them on two different herds of elephants. Allowing us to understand the herds movements and helping is with the science. With 6 GPS download locations a day, this will allow our Ranger patrol to be in a place to prevent any human elephant conflicts from happening. But we still need to raise funds to get more elephant patrol units into the field. Help us directly with a contribution to our Forest & Elephant patrols! Link in bio :) right now.

One of the reasons I am passionate about climate change and its effect on a global scale is people. People don't just exist in our immediate surroundings and communities. They are on every inch of this planet. They are men, women, children with hopes, and dreams. They have stories.⠀
.⠀
With every disaster that has happened over the last month, people have been at the forefront of my mind. To think, there is an island (Barbuda) that was thriving with joyous people filled possibility and in a matter of hours, it was all taken away. Peoples lives all over the U.S and world have dramatically changed in the matter of weeks.💔😪⠀
.⠀
It's sad but also really frustrating. Don't listen when people try to tell you these things "just happen" or they are not preventable. Bullshit. Everything on Earth is interconnected and every choice we make affects the people we don't realize exist. ⠀

Rather than shrinking in the face of a problem too big, we see that it is made up of all the problems humans have been fighting to fix for generations. From the social - racism, colonialism, imperialism, extraction, exploitation, sexism - to the scientific ☀️, we have the wisdom and the role models we need, and we are more prepared than ever.
Rather than feel helpless in the face of the 100 companies responsible for 71% emissions, or a white house motivated by white supremacy, violence, and greed, we see that there are a million leaders already doing the work, already resisting and already implementing solutions. They are the thousands of native leaders, like @greycloudism, who refused to step down when energy transfer partners wanted to lay down the Dakota Access Pipeline. They look like @destinywatford who got a poisonous incinerator near her school shut down when she was a teenager. They look like @rahwaghi, who is leading @pushbuffalo to create the first big community owned solar grid in the Northeast. They are the young organizers from @uprosebrooklyn who trained hundreds of young people this summer to become climate justice leaders. They are 60+ grassroots @100isnow grantees from every state in the US, making renewable energy a reality for everyone. They aren't always in mainstream media, but they're are everywhere once we look.

Rather than feeling like one small and ill-equipped person, we recognize that nobody ever achieved anything worthwhile alone. And climate change was never going to get fixed by a president or a CEO or even a scientist. Instead, the vast majority of humans living on planet earth, are going to fight. The only question now is whether we can be determined in our optimism, clear that together, we will be unstoppable.

To quote #julianapino, policy director #LVEJO, now is the moment we don't just support disaster relief, now is the moment we join ongoing fight for #ClimateJustice. (Thank you to my hero and friend @cfigueres & the hard working team at Mission2020.global for reminding me of the importance of celebrating optimism today and sending me this cradle to cradle certified shirt inspired by her ma
