Happy Easter from us to you! Today has been celebrating the greatest act of love throughout all of history, spending the weekend with friends, enjoying the last of the holidays. .
Not ready to share my project yet for #thewastedswap BUT both of the outfits worn today by H and I are made from upcycled fabrics found at op shops, an antique fair, from @vintageglorybox who has a wonderful business up cycling / reselling vintage sheets. @jmontilone ..

I am so obsessed with all things mustard at the moment. When folding up the offcuts from my dress I was suddenly inspired to whip up a mustard unicorn head. So what started out as a $2 vintage curtain has now made a dress, a trophy head and there is still plenty of fabric left for more creations. I had to dive into my pom pom stash for the yarn mane and can't believe how perfect the colour match is. It just goes to show what scraps from the craft room floor can make with a bit of imagination. My #yearofnocraftsupplies is definitely challenging me to think more laterally and I am loving the unexpected results. P.S the unicorn with yarn mane pattern is due out next week.
Yaaay! I managed to finally finish my #dottieangel frock! I have learned many things doing this project for myself, I have learned to use a hem foot! And to change pattern slightly on the sleeves as they did not agree with my figure (mostly that is why I got the hem foot). It is a great #beginners #sewing #pattern as it is simple to measure, midify and put together. It is highly instructive too so I really do suggest it to all beginners. I will absolutly make myself more #dresses with this pattern, so happy I traced it! I have used #french seam almost everywhere as easier than the technique the pattern tought me! Haha this is the best I can do with a grey old day outside and my amateur junior photographers inside! Overall I am super happy with how it turned out. The only change I made (besides adding the collar) was to sew the arm holes closed by another inch or so. I am definitely going to have a go at the shorter tunic version now that I have got the hang of it. Any excuse to make more bias binding!
It has to be said that the sewing gods have definitely been smiling on me today. I couldn't be happier with my peter pan collar with contrasting bias binding. I don't really know how I made it other than I just saw it in my mind and somehow my hands made it materialize with no effort at all. Do you ever get so in the creative zone that it is like an outer body experience or have I just drunk too much coffee? Maybe the latter. Anyway when the kids get home I will put in on and get them to take a photo.
Just ironing my finished frock and I am pleasantly surprised to see that my seams match. Although I am somewhat meticulous when sewing I do get a bit slap dash and become impatient to see the finished product so I think this is more good luck than skill! I have technically finished the dress but have decided to add a collar so you will have to wait a bit longer (like probably 3 days!) to see it in all its glory. Now I am sure I have pinned a peter pan collar tutorial somewhere...

There are a few things I'm going to adjust on v2, but all in all I love it and it will become a wardrobe staple with tights, leggings & even jeans! I'll discuss changes I'm going to make on v2 on this week's episode of the @mustloveyarn podcast!
Neckline, sleeves, ties and pleats done. Whoever said they can whip one of these frocks up in 2 hours is lying!!! I have spent at least 6 solid hours on it including cutting out and I still have the sides and hem to complete. Alas it's time to pick the kids up so she will have to wait until tomorrow to be finished. I'm glad I made the XS because it looks huge!
