I’m on week 2 of my #52listsforhappiness journal entry and this time it’s about listing the routines in my personal life and work. Either I’m not living it up to my “list” potential or my routine is pretty boring, I was only able to list 6 items each for my personal life and work 😬 (#itiswhatitis 🤷🏻‍♀️) The •take action• task is to circle all of the routines that bring me joy and what about the routines that bring me joy. I circled 4 from personal life and 2 from work. One circled item I’d like to share is about my 4am gym session with my personal trainer Phil (@fitevolve180). I’m by no mean an early riser, or at least that’s what I thought till 2 years ago. My current work assignment is located an hour away from home and our work day starts at 6.30am daily. I’ve tried working out after work but after spending almost 10 hours at work coupled with the additional two hours RT drive and depending on how smooth or crazy my work day is, I’m rarely consistent on what mood I show up to the training session. I asked Phil if he’d be willing to train me at 4am before I head out to work. As expected, and like any normal sane person would respond, it was a “heck no” at first. A week later, he warmed up to the idea and said we’d try it for a week. We set ground rules, only on midweek so he can sleep in on Monday and I could use some extra hours too post my late Sunday drive ins. Two years later, we’re now training five days a week at 4am. Regardless of how grumpy we were when we show up to the gym, we’d both end up out of the funk an hour later. When we have to cancel any sessions, I’d be so bummed because having gym session in the morning always put me in a productive mood at work. Jittery at times, but ish get done! I’m so grateful to have found a personal trainer whose also a (free) therapist, (paid) nutritionist, that big brother I never had and that one best friend I’d tell all of my dirtiest lil secrets to 🤭🤫 Investing in a personal trainer is one of the best investments I’ve made for myself. The work we do indoors got me outdoors hiking every weekend 🏔️🙌🏽 #52listsproject #whatmakesyouhappy

True life is lived when tiny changes occur. --Leo Tolstoy

These tiny grains of sand are swooped up in the Westerly winds across the San Luis Valley, meet their match in the majestic Sangre de Cristos, and deposited as ever- shifting dunes.
