What recovery from disordered eating actually is like: out with a friend for lunch and she suggested a sandwich you just "have" to try. You think "oh crap carbs" but smile and say okay. You glace over in a mirror and notice the complete lack of muscle definition in your arms and just see thickness. You quickly look away. The food comes and the servings are bigger than expected. You stop yourself from counting the macros and calories. You take a bite it's really good. She offers you some of her fries. You think if you eat some you'll need to go for a run. You snap the hair tie on your wrist to correct your line of thinking. You take one. As the meal continues, you and your friend laugh and chat. You begin to stop thinking about counting calories and enjoying your meal. You glace at the mirror again. This time you smile though. .
This isn't every day. Honestly, I personally in my stage of recovery rarely go through this. I've learned to enjoy memories over macros. But it's not to say it never happens or it didn't happen often when I first began pursuing health over disordered eating. So my message to everyone reading this, healthy relationship with food or not, it's a process. Give yourself or your loved ones time and understanding. And don't stop fighting.

Someone asked me today why I join in and train myself in classes at the gym I coach at? They asked wouldn't you just train yourself. -

To be a personal trainer I strongly believe you must lead by example, might sound cliche but I have always practiced what I preached. But I have also never set myself on a pedestal above those I train, I love to jump in training with the crew and smash out some sweat sessions, I actually think it's important for clients to see us training and pushing the limits, I believe it motivates people more than anything seeing coaches jump in on sessions. I love to fill the class with good vibes and of course some healthy competition, those who know me know I love to try to beat the boys on a daily 😜 #girlpower πŸ’ͺ🏼

If we are honest with ourselves, we can agree that it’s difficult to not look at what others are doing. After all, it’s human nature. My belief is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking and assessing what others are doing BUT, we should keep all things in balance,

Moving from good to great means looking outward while taking a deeper look inward at self then adjust for self improvement.

How do you do this? It can be big or small. For instance, today I plan on checking off 4 items on my to do list instead of 3, and I also plan I walking/ running more than 5 miles (a bit more than yesterday.)
