Toast can be a vehicle for delivering all varieties of good nutrients into your body. For a nutritious twist try topping your toast with
Slather of plain greek yogurt
Fresh or frozen blueberries
Drizzle of honey
Sprinkle of pumpkin seeds
You'll get your energy boost plus fiber and antioxidants in this mix
Couple of pointers on your bread choice since not all bread is equal nor all bad -
- Aim for only 1g of sugar or less
- More grains doesn’t always mean better...You’ll often see labels that say multi-grain or 10 grain bread, but that doesn’t mean that the bread is 100% WHOLE grain or better for you. In fact, often times it can contain refined flour (which we like to avoid). - Choose 100% whole grain or 100% whole wheat, look for that WHOLE word
- Go for sprouted bread. Sprouted bread makes some of the best toast and often has higher protein and fiber, keeps you full longer
Pay attention to the ingredient list. If there are multiple ingredients you can’t pronounce then more than likely that bread has plenty of unnecessary additives.

How many colors from fruits or veggies do you get on your plate usually? If it’s 1 I challenge you to get 2, if it’s 2 I challenge you to get 3, if it’s 3 I challenge you to get 4, etc. Try adding at least one more color to most of your meals or snacks for a week and assess how you feel!✨

I make or buy a bunch of cold pressed juices so I can get a good amount of vitamins/ minerals in him as well as hydration. This is also helpful when they have a reduced appetite. The other thing I always do at the first sign of a cold or flu is give black elderberry extract. While this doesn't necessarily help w symptoms, it does help to reduce duration and severity. .

Additionally, what I give J daily to support his system is a high quality fish oil that has 500 IU of vit D, and some toddler probiotics. .
