Moving on from last week where I talked about what you should be eating pre workout, this week i'm going to talk about what you should be eating post workout
When you're working out, your muscles use up their glycogen stores for fuel. This results in your muscles being partially depleted of glycogen. Some of the proteins in your muscles also get broken down and damaged. This is why we need to get the right foods in after a workout so your body can repair and rebuild to it's fullest potential.
Protein - Protein is key after a workout. Protein rebuilds and repairs the muscles that you have broken down in the workout. Studies have shown that you should be getting between 20-40 grams of protein to maximize the body's ability to recover after exercise.
Good proteins to eat are chicken, turkey, eggs or even a protein shake if you're on the go.
Carbs - eating carbs after a workout will replenish your body's glycogen stores.
Good carbs to eat after a workout are, sweet potatoes and pasta, and also sugars such as fruit and chocolate milk.

All the sweet stuff!! Trying to limit refined sugar but still hit the spot with a cuppa!

1. Crispy cakes - add nuts, use 70% cocoa solids chocolate, use gluten free rice cereal or just stick to the tried and tested 😉. Add sprinkles - kiddy favourite!!
2. Braised mince with added veg, cauliflower rice and brocolli.
3. Berries, banana and chia seeds.
4. Basic prawn salad, are chopped veg with apple cider vinegar dressing.
5. Veg.
6. Pesto chicken salad.
7. Banana pancakes.
8. Tinned fish for the win!!
9. Sweet potato brownies, no icing @deliciouslyella

One of my favourite meals to make. I love mexican flavours! 😋

It’s chicken stir fry with peppers and red onion. I used cajun chicken spice (it’s a blend of spices, no nasties!), salt, pepper, fresh coriander and lime juice to flavour. Soo good!!

I served it with basmati rice, also seasoned with lime juice and fresh coriander.

The best part is the home made guacamole! 😋
Mix ingredients in a food processor: Avocado, garlic, onion, lime juice, salt, pepper, fresh coriander.
