Testing my pull up max before starting my 5 week pullup/chinup/dips/pushup improvement program.
Pullups = 7
Chinups = 10
Dips = 15
Pushups = coming soon

My legs are still all over the place, so I'll try to improve that as well, even though it feels so much better to let them do what they want. .

Week 3 done and dusted!!!
With weather looking grim we decided to mix it up and do some body weight training and stair work at an alternate location.
A huge effort by the crew clocking up 3.2kms of movement involving just over 1000 stairs climbed. Great effort by all and excited for what’s in store for next weeks session. Have fun and stay safe kids 😉

Hamstring Strength. Studies have shown that increasing eccentric hamstring strength has a strong correlation to reduction in hamstring strains in athletes. Your biceps femoris crosses both the hip and knee joint, so it has ✌🏻 main functions during locomotion: Eccentric deceleration of knee extension during the swing phase of gait; it also serves as your secondary hip extensor. Injuries typically occur for a few reasons:
1-Weak Glutes-this places excess demand on the hamstring to extend the hip and control knee extension, which can cause an overuse injury.
2-Anterior Pelvic tilt, causing artificially lengthened hamstrings-learning proper hip alignment, through breathing and strengthening the hip flexors and glutes tends to help correct this pelvic position.
3-Poor eccentric control-as mentioned, the BF eccentrically controls knee extension, poor eccentric control can cause over lengthening when you’re trying to move as fast as possible, causing injury.
Single Slider leg curls are a great tool to target all of these (note, this is an advanced progression, start with 2 legs and build up to 1 Leg) because they force you into proper hip alignment (I like using a slight posterior tilt) which forces you to use your glute to extend the hip. Actively flexing the contralateral hip further helps to engage the hip flexors, reinforcing a stable, neutral pelvic position. And then there’s the eccentric lengthening of the hamstring with the slider. I decided to do these on an Airex pad today-it decreased the stability a little bit, thus increasing the demands on my hips and hamstrings to stabilize the pelvis during knee extension.
