"When your a mountain person you understand the brilliance and beauty of contradiction. The way land can be your greatest teacher. How something can both be grounding yet elevating, intoxicating yet soothing, wild yet serene, intensely primal yet patient, and cycling yet predictable within the shifts and rhythms. Mountains keep us on edge yet wrap us in the sensation of safety all at once.. " #mountainlife #bitterrootmountains #blodgettcanyon #hikemontana #chasingwaterfalls #wintervibes

Glacier National Park, Canadian border hike to the amazing, Elizabeth Lake. Spent night #2 here. The sounds of the ice moving and echoing through this valley is creepy, yet comforting.

So lucky to have been able to get this far into the park this far into the season! Such a beautiful hike, and only 4 miles round trip! Fog in the valley, but glorious sunshine up high...plus a great sense of what Glacial Lake Missoula may have looked like. The view from the top of Sentinel is definitely worth the hike! #mtsentinel #inversion #getoutside #missoulamt #missoulalove #hikemontana #glaciallakemissoula

It’s hard being a woman, especially in the typically masculine minded outdoor world. However the benefit to those tricky “nature calls” situations is getting to find the perfect spot. Here is a page dedicated to those perfect “ahhhhh” moments that make us fall more in love with the earth. After all how can you not feel bonded to Mother Nature with your pants around your ankles, balancing on some sketch terrain and trying not to piss on your shoe? Unite my adventurous ladies and let us share in the the magic of that perfect moment!
This moment is from an amazing little hike in Western Montana. With not a soul on the trail we were treated to a “number 1” view! Not all outdoor bathroom breaks need to be hidden behind a bush! Share your best #squatwatch with us! .

Thunder on the mountain, rolling like a drum
Gonna sleep over there, that's where the music coming from
I don't need any guide, I already know the way
Remember this, I’m your servant both night and day…Bob Dylan

This mornings hike was a bit chilly. At the start of our hike and at the end. Not a whole bunch of difference 😳

With fires raging in Southern California, I think about the fires that came through Montana this summer. This view of Lake McDonald from the Highline Trail in @glaciernps was smoked in from fires 100 miles away. This was taken a week before fires raged through the park itself. Stay safe, stay smart.

It's been a rough week. Bears Ears, net neutrality, California wildfires... It's exhausting and scary. Go out and explore and take pictures and make memories. It's the best kind of revolution. ✊

Our happy place🌲♥️🐾 // Zoey and I are both ready for a nap after a 6 mile hike this morning! I usually like to hike with my headphones in listening to music or an audiobook or a podcast, but I couldn't today. I locked my headphones (along with my keys! 😬) in my car, so we had to go sans headphones. For a moment I was tempted to stress out about my keys getting locked in my car, but we decided to go for an unplugged walk instead! While I may have been unplugged from my phone, I felt so connected to the beauty of my town and the beauty of this time spent playing outside with Zoey. I connected with every person we passed on our hike, even beyond just a hello. We actually had a conversation! It was such a gift that I didn't have my crutch of headphones today to distract me from the world around us. I was left to engage with the people and the place I call home! What an unexpected surprise that came out of what I thought would be a huge bummer! Rather than using music or podcasts as a distraction, I was able to remember why I love #Missoula so much and really tap into the #gratitude I feel for living in such an incredible place☀️ #optoutside #liss #hikemontana #hiking #bbg #bbgjourney #dogsofinstagram
