I’ve been trying out a couple of the new 40% higher protein peanut butters by @rc.butters and they’re SO GOOD 🥜🤤 They have a vegan range (pea protein) and a whey protein range with original smooth/crunchy, choc crunch and cinnamon smooth (soooo good on Apple 🥧). Love that it’s all natural, NON-GMO, no palm oil, no added sugar... just nutty goodness 😍

Three years ago, if you were to ask me if I wanted more kids I would have said no, absolutely not. Not because I don’t love kiddos, but because my first pregnancy was so difficult, and my birth experience far more traumatic than I ever could have anticipated. I didn’t think I could ever be pregnant again, and our financial situation at the time didn’t make adoption an option, so we settled on being one and done and that was it.

I spent the next couple of years changing my entire health around. I got in the best shape of my life (literally- I even competed in a fitness competition), made a complete nutrition 180 when I learned I had PCOS and started really, truly nourishing myself like I never had before.

Three years later, we started talking seriously about having another and I was so full of fear that this pregnancy would be just as complicated as the last. But I knew the work I had done and believed in the power of healthy changes, and we prayed hard- and decided to go for it.

I could not believe the difference between this pregnancy and my last. Not only was I stronger and healthier, I had more energy, I felt incredible up until the very end when back pain took over and I really truly loved being pregnant for the majority of my pregnancy. And best of all, I had zero complications like I did the first time around, and a beautiful, fast, natural birth.

I knew this was something I wanted to pass onto other women, to empower them that they CAN have a healthy pregnancy and birth, mind, body and soul. So Healthy Mama Bun in the Oven was born. Like totally having the craziest Monday over here..... Anyone else?! Day 5 of my kiddo’s cold and now her baby brother is sick too 😬 I’ve been trying to get as many fluids into her as possible and I’ve had to get creative.

Someone mentioned giving her popsicles and I cringed when I thought about the amount of added sugar that’s found in store bought ones. Sugar depresses the body’s immune system after you eat it as it and the effect can last for 4-6 hours!! Definitely not what you want when fighting a cold!!

Instead, I bought a couple of bottles of The Stranger from @greenhousejuice. Made with pineapple, orange, carrot, lemon and camu camu, it’s chock full of vitamin C (camu camu has more vitamin C than any other food)! And to a three year old, the most important thing is that they are delicious!! She’s been eating them non stop and extra vitamin C definitely doesn’t hurt!! 🍍🍊🥕🍋

CoCoNuT CaShEw NuT MyLk recipe idea for all of the cream lovers out there! 😍 Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cream in their coffee? Nut milk is a WAY healthier alternative to cream, cheap and easy to make, equally as creamy, and loaded with healthy fats! Don’t believe me?? Try for yourself and you’ll see how delicious it is!!🥛


Blend 1/2 cup shredded coconut, 1/2 cup cashews, 1 date, pinch of sea salt, 1 tsp of vanilla with 4 cups of water in high powered blender. Strain using a cheese cloth (or nylon if you don’t have one) and enjoy!

Hot tip: Making up recipes doesn’t have to be hard. I get asked a lot if I create all my recipes and while, yes most times I “create” them by choosing different flavours and ingredients (or randomly throwing things together in hopes it will taste great) but the rest of the time I simply use standard recipes and just tweak them by swapping out the more unhealthy ingredients like refined sugar and flours with their healthier counterparts.
For this recipe I followed a basic oatmeal raisin cookie recipe and just switched out the white flour for gluten free, white sugar for raw honey and real egg for a flax egg. Then I added in dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds for a more festive combo.
Word to the wise when swapping ingredients: not everything equals out cup for cup. It’s best to google when you’re switching out ingredients to determine the amount you need as it can ultimately change the texture, taste and baking time of your preferred treat.

I haven’t found time to meditate at home by myself for months now (despite the picture, I’m human just like you), but i find stillness in other ways. When I go to yoga, Pilates or a walk/ run I focus on my breath and sometimes a mantra. This works for me right now, and that’s all that matters.⠀

"My stomach feels fine when i eat ___". I hear this alot and people are floored when symptons resolve after removing specific foods. -
When the gut is inflammed the barrier becomes impaired, allowing bacteria and food particles to get into the bloodstream. Nutritional therapy in action: The life of a Functional Nutrition Educator

This past weekend I helped my colleague Lora teach the first of 3 workshop intensives for this years Seattle NTP @ntatraining, along with a fabulous group of class mentors (I'm the one holding Bones)! These mentors are former graduates who come back to provide experienced one-on-one guidance to students about things like learning the functional tests.
.
Lora and I have a very large class this year, and since the optimal ratio of students to class mentors is 2-to-1, there were a LOT of people to fit into the room while ensuring everyone had ample room to practice good body mechanics. Ergonomically correct movement to ensure long-term practical application are a big teaching priority to both me and Lora, and she did a fantastic job with support from our amazing class mentors to set these students up for success. This is the 5th class I've participated in, and I have never seen such a high level of functional testing at the end of only the first weekend. It was incredible! We are lucky to have the mentors we do for this class, and are grateful for their participation and everything they do to make this experience what it is for the students.

First one down, two more to go! But first, Term Break (happy sigh). :) ♡
