“Of course I feel bad,’’ Antetokounmpo said Saturday. “The NBA is a brotherhood. He’s one of my friends.’’ Antetokounmpo has phoned Porzingis his condolences. “Things like that happen, but he’s going to do whatever it takes to come back strong,’’ Antetokounmpo said. “Because he’s Porzingaaaaaa.”
Karl-Anthony Towns and Kyle Lowry also have talked to Porzingis on the phone as he’s just starting rehab with an estimated timetable of nine-to-12 months. Sources indicated there’s hope is he will be back in 10 months, ready for Christmas. “It’s very heartbreaking,’’ said Towns, selected No. 1 to Porzingis’ No. 4 in the 2015 draft. “He’s good friend of mine. To see him go down like that, this is a big dream of his to be an All-Star. It hurts. I talked to KP. I told him he’ll have multiple times to be here. It’s just a postponement of it. It’s not the end all and be all. There’ll be a lot more chances.’’ Lowry had ACL surgery at Villanova and came back to become one of the NBA’s top point guards. Lowry’s agency, ASM Sports, also reps Porzingis. “I talked to KP already, I know him personally,’’ Lowry said. “His spirits are high and positive. When he gets to that point when it’s not getting any better or stronger, he’s got to keep pushing and pushing. When he’s struggling, push through it. He’ll be fine.”

“It’s one thing that absolutely sucks — in sports and life sometimes — is going through injuries,” said Irving, who underwent his own knee surgery in 2016. “So I’m sending my well wishes to him. And great energy. That dude is so freakin’ talented. It’s tough, man. It’s tough. “You just hope that mentally he’s able to jump over those hurdles. It’s tough coming back and knowing the process and kind of having that window that you’re trying to hit in terms of how long you have to wait in order to do certain things. But I know he’s always in the gym, he’s always a hard worker. So I wish Porzingis nothing but the best.” Prior to his injury, Porzingis told the Daily News that he hoped to use this weekend to recruit his fellow All-Stars. Separately, he called Irving, “one of my favorite players.” “I appreciate that,” Irving responded Saturday. “He’s so versatile,” he added.
Irving, who grew up in North Jersey, placed the Knicks on his short list of desirable destinations after requesting a trade from the Cavaliers. But team president Steve Mills was reluctant — if not totally averse — to making Porzingis available to the Cavs, and that left New York with its best recruiting tool for when it plans to clear cap space for a superstar free agent in the summer of 2019.
That’s also when Irving is scheduled to hit the market.
These two guys have such respect for each others game and Kyrie told KP that he'd love to play with him back in October.
Expect Jarrett Jacks’s minutes to decrease after the ASB. As the teams chances to make the playoffs have rapidly decreased, Jeff has opted to play the young guys more.
Mudiay and Frank will both get a boost in their minutes and also will play along side each other.
Kyrie talked a little about Kp today: “I’m sending my well wishes to him. And great energy. That dude is so freakin’ talented. It’s tough, man. It’s tough. After playing Friday in the Rising Stars Challenge, Ntilikina revealed he will spend most of the offseason training in France. -
Most likely the Knicks would send a developmental coach to work with him in France but Ntiliikina indicated the Las Vegas Summer League doesn’t appear in the plans. The Knicks’ brass has yet to talk with Ntilikina about an offseason plan. “I will probably come back home, but I will take care of working on my game,’’ Ntilikina said at Staples Center. “I will make sure I will come back stronger and even better.” Unlike Kristaps Porzingis, who stayed the entire offseason in Latvia, Ntilikina will make a couple of side trips to New York. “I will come back [to New York] to make sure the team is ready to have a great season next year,’’ Ntilikina said.
One concern on being holed up in France is Ntilikina won’t play enough of the NBA pickup games that have become prevalent in the U.S. – whether in the Drew League or at Baruch or at Carmelo Anthony’s gym in midtown.
Because he never played AAU ball, some scouts believe he’s not as up to the speed of the NBA like, say, Donovan Mitchell Jr. or Dennis Smith Jr., the two point guards the Knicks passed on

5.2 punti/2.0 rimbalzi/3.2 assist
