"I will just have a salad" Part 2..
SALADS, SMOOTHIES, GRANOLA BARS, VEGETABLE CRISPS. All the epitome of healthy living, right? So many things these days are marketed as the "better" option, the option to choose for "healthy people".

Often, choosing the Salad, or Smoothie can be healthier in many regards. It's just also great to be mindful that sometimes, the Salad or the Smoothie option may have sneaky added ingredients or in this case, be MORE in calories and higher in fat.

At the end of the day, to lose weight or gain weight, your body needs a calorie deficit or surplus, so along with making the "HEALTHIER CHOICES", being mindful of calories & macros could really help too.

I’m still using MFP, but I have to say if you haven’t tried the Carb Manager app (free), you should look at it.... it makes the net carb process so easy (among everything else). I have always been a MFP user and I’m not ready to let go yet but this app has won me over so I will use both for the time being...

Let me introduce myself...or maybe reintroduce. I’m Hali (hay-lee, not Halle)
Posts like this one help me remember what my goals are, why I’m doing what I’m doing and I get to really meditate on how far I’ve come. Like ‘I started from the bottom now I’m here’, haha. I’m not anywhere fancy or great, but I know I will be and thats the greatest motivation I have found. Actually having faith in yourself, crazy the places it’ll take you.
About 6 years ago, in what feels like a galaxy far far away, I was going through some extremely emotional and crappy times. As part of distraction and therapy to help me move past it all that I joined a gym. Something I had never done, or wanted to do before. I wasn’t really focused on anything in particular but not feeling guilty about eating that pizza. But then...BAM, I got pregnant. Got super lazy, didn’t go to the gym, no exercising, no restraint on my food (I got one word: s’mores). Like almost every pregnant lady out there, I gained some weight, my body changed. It sucked. I had some major postpartum blues going on. After about a year, I finally got some treatment for that. It helped, I lost a little bit of the weight naturally. And about two years after that I finally got the motivation to join a gym. A lot of other posts of mine go into detail on the struggles I had at first. The doubt, the tears, etc. I finally learned consistency with working out. In previous posts, I’ve also gone into detail about how exercising truly changed the face of my depression and turned my life around in such a positive way. That is why I am so dedicated to sharing my story, because I know I am not the only one who has or can benefit from exercising and treating yourself with care and love. This post is getting a little long and rambling (thanks for still reading), so over the next few days I’m gonna share more. Details about how people said a bunch of hurtful stuff. About how my goals and desires during this journey have changed. Details about how I got the courage to share all this on the regular. And more, so stay tuned...
