THE PAR BREAKING FORMULA... Do You Know What Your Birdie to Bogey Ratio?
On the PGA Tour the bogey average (2017 season) for the player ranked 1 was 2.05 bogeys on average per round, (just over 2 bogies) and for the player ranked 190 it was 3.75.
The birdie average (2017 season) for the player ranked 1 was 4.49 birdies on average per round and for the player ranked 190 it was 2.38 birdies per round on average. Can you see a correlation between the amount of bogeys they make against birdies? If a golfer has 3.75 bogeys or worse per round and 2.38 birdies or better he will play over par.
Now you are probably thinking that this is far from easy to do, and you would be right, but you need to understand that to break par often you will need to reduce the mistakes (bogeys and worse) that you make in every round you play.
Here’s a really simple way of working out your bogey to birdie ratio so that you understand where you are in this critical game improvement area.
Total birdies or better divided by total bogeys or worse.

WHY REWARD NEVER EQUALS EFFORT IN GOLF
Golf is a high mistake sport where you will fail many times in your efforts to become excellent at playing—especially in tournaments.

No two golf shots are ever the same, and when you bring countless environmental variables into the process it makes the game challenging, most of the time.

So it is never a short term focus on improvement; but always a long term process of gradual improvement. So this is worth remembering... Reward is Not Equal to Effort in Golf.

It doesn’t matter whether you are aged 11, 21 or 51 you need a basic plan for improvement that is highly relevant to your needs, and is also flexible enough to change as you change and this is where the principle of specificity comes in.

Specificity, Huh?
Specificity relates to how your body changes, adapts and evolves as you practice and play golf.
Specifically, you are practicing and developing skills in such a way that your body is being shaped to the specific demands of golf, and ideally this shaping should be aimed at playing competitively in tournaments if you want to be an elite amateur or professional golfer.

If you are a higher handicap (serious) golfer specificity could relate to improvement in the shape of your golf swing, meaning that as you change and adapt to new information and practice it you are shaping your swing so you can hit specific types of shots such as, driving the ball successfully from the tee or possibly hitting a shot with a specific type of curvature.

So your rate of improvement is related to (amongst other things) the quality and frequency of the golf instruction you receive, the amount of golf shots you hit, or golf strokes you perform, the regularity of how often you hit them, and the intensity of your focus on each stroke, or your level of engagement.

Since today is #transformationtuesday I decided to take it back to Feb 2017 when I began with my new coach @coach_robr to compare with last week's photos even though I came in super fat. The hospital and my health derailed me a bit but we are working on getting back now with my diet and getting on track again. But embrace every stage. Our goal this year has been to put on upper body size and make my shoulders rounder and we were doing just that. Completely different person inside and out. I’m feeling beyond blessed that I get to enjoy this day with my kiddos and make these memories with them and with our local friends. Mixing it up with some HIIT Workouts, can’t let the body build up a tolerance for the same old routines. Always nice to shock the body, and it’ll also make you realize how much more work you need to put in, in order to be a well rounded athlete. The functionality of fitness should never be compromised by a persons size or stature.
This workout consisted of -50 deadlifts in a row with 225
-50 air squats holding a 45lb plate -50 push-ups
All of that for 5 rounds for time or AMRAP.
It will shoot your heart rate through the roof and keep it there while exhausting the muscles and in this case almost the entire body. Great shock to the body, I try to keep these workouts in a weekly routine or sometimes 2 day workouts on a biweekly routines

Lately my workouts have been getting cut short do to business and school. Everyone has things going on in their lives, whether its friends family or work. Most athletes will say “get up earlier or go to bed later”. Hey well maybe the gym doesn’t open up that early or stay open late enough. Not all of us have 24 hour gyms near us. This has resulted in extreme improvising when it comes to home workouts. I’ve gone back to the roots of basic training and getting smoked. Old fashion push-ups, leg tuck and twists, planks and flutter kicks. Of course I have to add the weighted vest in for some extra fun. It’s very true that there is no such thing as a bad workout, only ones that never happen. Sometimes people are putting 110% into making a living or in a new business. You can get a great pump at home and get your blood flowing to keep all of the progress you’ve made.
