떠돌다 한국와서 정착한 2013년부터 5년간 물리치료사 생활 끝내는날이오긴 오네요 ..(안돌아 올거라 장담은 못하겠지만;;) .

퇴사 동기야 어찌 됐건
그 동안 많이 배우고 재미있고 힘들게
일 했는거 같아요 . .

이제 또 다른분야의 도전에 설레기도 하고 걱정도 많이 되지만 하고 싶은거 부담없이 해볼 수 있는 기회라 생각하고 잘 준비 해볼려구요.
그 동안 많이 도와준 선생님들 감사하고 항상 응원합니다 !

ATHLETIC KT TAPE FALSE ADVERTISING - CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT

“The makers of KT Tape have agreed to pay $1.75 million to resolve allegations that its kinesiology tape was falsely advertised as being able to prevent injuries and provide pain relief.
.
In addition to creating the settlement fund to reimburse customers, KT also agreed to change the way the athletic tape is advertised.
.
The company will remove the following label claims: “it will keep you pain free,” “prevents injury” and “provides 24-hour pain relief per application.” The kinesiology tape packaging will also include a large, bold disclaimer to inform consumers that the athletic tape is “not clinically proven for all injuries.”

Those are some bold statements to make given the lack of evidence to support them... 🤔

A few sweet moments as Lily hopped in and out of my morning Mysore in PJs last weekend. I promised myself this year that I would show up to my mat daily if at all possible and this day just happened to be in pajamas and out where life was happening since I missed my early alarm. It wasn't perfect or pretty in most cases but it happened and I was present not only to my practice but in sharing with my daughter. She knows I go early before she wakes up almost daily to the studio but I love that she gets to see me in action sometimes too. I want her to grow up knowing how important self care and self love is and know that nobody can take this from you if you commit and show up. Love my burgeoning little yogi so much!! #kidsyoga

I asked a stranger in the gym tonight to record me running- was trying to replicate the video my #physicaltherapist took to see if there is a difference now that I'm wearing #orthotics. Hard to tell because the angle is different, but still interesting. And shoutout to @sheratonphillydowntown for having a 24 hour gym- (confession time) I'm actually staying down the street but got in too late to use the one at my hotel, so when I found out at conference checkin that this one was open and I happened to be wearing the right clothes, I got a colleague to let me in. 「我就是不想做復健,做了也不會比較好。」
「老師,我的手要到什麼時候才不會硬硬的。」
「唉,這隻壞手乾脆剁掉算了。」
這些話是我工作期間常聽到個案們說的話,對於很多個案來說,常有一種錯誤認知是做復健可以恢復到跟以前一樣,如果沒有達到那個預期就是失能,什麼都說不會,什麼都不好,把跟自己相關的生活大小事全部推給家人或外傭,反正花錢消災了事,反正養兒育女就是要防老,中華文化使然的惡習在這種時候總是特別令人頭疼。
很多時候個案是有進步的,只是不符合他的預期(所以建立正確病視是重要的),再來,他還不夠懂得跟他這個身體共存,他不知道他現在的能力可以做到什麼,當他做了很多不懂的復健,卻無法獲得成就感,那動機的下降是必然。
同時,明的暗的,你可以觀察的出來許多只是做modality 止痛的門診病人很看不起這些住院或安養機構病人,我自己遇過的是當著住院個案家屬的面洗住院個案的,還是我的個案(所以他直接被我嗆到一句話都不敢再跟我說,這算是我很嚴重的劣根性,亂搞我個案我理智線會斷掉)
於是乎,再跟PT老師討論下我們誕生了之前的「聖誕計畫」和這次的「新年計畫」,目的主要是讓住院和安養個案知道他們其實能做到一些他覺得做不到的事,同時消彌門診病人對他們的歧視(門診病人問就告訴他這是病人做的)
針對患側握力不足的個案給予釘書機的使用(grading釘書機是傳統或省力式);針對三指捏力不足、近端穩定度不足則給予剪刀的使用(grading紙張是書面紙還是厚紙版還是紙箱);針對掌內小肌肉協調不好則給予剪刀/美工刀/鉛筆描邊/麥克筆著色等活動;針對problem solving或memory impair則成為生產線的頭(前者告訴他要做什麼規格的紙張,就把材料給他讓他試誤;後者詳講每個步驟後讓他仿作一個小配件)⋯針對brunnstrom stage 3-4的也可以透過身體不同部位來代償手部的功能(腳踩釘書機/肘壓釘書機/肘壓紙⋯⋯⋯⋯)
過程是不輕鬆的,因為從設計到實作都很考驗治療師的思想周全性和臨場反應,但跨專業結合PT擅長的動作分析和OT擅長的活動分析,還是把這個計畫做的有聲有色
實際成效上,個案對於能幫助治療師這件事大多具有高動機,特別是我幫他們的成品署名時都在那邊裝客氣,但嘴角上揚是騙不了人的,二來個案越來越準時也越來越主動(一來就問老師他要幫什麼;他還可以再做什麼)最後,門診病人對於這些佈置的詢問度很高,況且很吃驚於他們能做出成品。
「你其實比你想像中厲害,只是你不知道。」這是我心中的感覺,也希望個案們也能感受到

This exercise strengthens the gluteus medius - which is responsible for stabilizing our pelvis. If someone has weak hip stabilizers it can lead to injuries and pain at the knee and ankle. This is an awesome exercise for low back pain and it feels great if you have tight hips as well!
.
How to do it 👉
1. Lie on your side, with knees together and bent at a 45-degree angle.
2. Rest your head on your lower arm, and use your top arm to steady your hip. Be sure that your hips are stacked on top of one another.
3. Keeping your feet touching, raise your upper knee as high as you can without shifting your hips or pelvis.

Progression 👉 grab a band and put it just above the knees. .
Important 👉
🔆If you can’t control the rotation in the hips put your bum / back against the wall 🔆

今週週一のシニアyogaは、インフル流行によりお休みでした💦皆さんお大事に🙏

今日はもう1つのデイでのシニアyogaへ!快晴で気持ちいい☀️ #笑いyogaと#チェアyogaをやらせて頂きました!ごはん前だったのでおまけに嚥下体操も😂
皆さんやはり笑いyogaがお上手👏普段から笑うことが多いのがよくわかります💕

そして、前回時間が余ってしまった反省を活かし、フローや転倒予防系も入れてみっちり時間を使わせて頂きました(^^)
ため息がだんだん濃くなっていくのがわかりました!頑張って運動して下さっています👍

シニアyogaや集団運動の難しいところは疾患や病気がそれぞれ違うことや、認知の低下があると自身のことがわからずやりすぎてしまったり、またやれないからと自閉してしまう方もいること。。。 また、高次脳機能などの問題で椅子に座っていることが難しい方も... そんなかたも1つのポーズてでも一緒にyogaができるよう試行錯誤の日々です。

Just wanted to send you into the weekend with a mobility exercise for those sore ab and back muscles.

This is a version if the side sit stretch that was part of the 5 minute mobility series.

This one is a great way to work on hip mobility with a little bit of spinal mobility as well.

I like to use this one to start off when I am doing exercises like deep squat and lunges to help free my hips up.

Tight Hips and Hammies can cause all kinds of crazy pain in the hips, low back, and even the knees! Just as important as it is to keep strong is to stay bendy and keep these muscles long and flexible.
Strength + Flexibilty = a power couple! 👯‍♀️
Try this combo to address the hip flexor on one side then the hamstring of the other! 👣If your hip flexors are super tight, avoid 🚫taking it into a forward lunge, this will prevent lumbar spine hyper extension and excessive stretch to the anterior capsule of your hip joint.

What you focus on grows.🌷 This single truth was the most transforming for me when I started slowly digging myself out of the dark hole I was in 3 years ago.

Our mind is our most powerful weapon or our biggest enemy.

Feeding my mind with constant news stories of negativity, sharing negative content on social, reading mom blog after mom blog about all the things I "should" be doing, not being GRATEFUL for all that I had, chatting with the same negative people daily, following the same depressing stories daily on the news, focusing on the "what if's" instead of the "RIGHT NOWS".....HUGE Freaking MISTAKE people. I was doing this daily and it was digging me deeper and deeper. My anxiety was out of control.

All of these daily choices left me feeling inadequate, sad, stuck, and unable to see the sunshine all around me.

Do Want your life to change? 🗣️Let me share a secret with you that helped me.

Start each day with your focus on the GOOD!
Change your daily behaviors and skip the morning news.
Skip the daily FB scroll through your newsfeed or freaking CLEAN IT UP from garbage and people unhappy with their life.
Surround yourself with those who speak TRUTH to you.
Instead of joining the negative convo, be the one who always sees the positive side.
FOCUS on the good around you!
Be GRATEFUL every day. ❤️🤸🏼‍♀️ The above SIMPLE things have transformed my life.

I start EVERY. SINGLE. Morning with my devotional in my hand, a cup of coffee, and a grateful discussion with my God.

If you come to me wanting a discussion about political views, the flu epidemic, the potential war, the Olympic scandal, or the latest public shooting or threat....I will stare at you with complete oblivion. Because I know the details of NONE of it.

The only reason I know they exist is because people ask.
