Day 27: Conductor's orchestra. We played Beethoven Op 74. Mov 2 and Schubert Death and the Maiden. It was interesting seeing other people conduct other than Markand. People have so many different ways of expressing Music into motion.

- Lift your leg until you feel tension down the back of the hamstring/calf
- Keep the knee straight and foot tucked
- Glide across x 10-15 per leg, for 3-5 sets
- After each set, try lifting the leg an inch higher

Squat shoulder angels: this is a great exercise to work on your active shoulder mobility and control in a full squat. This exercise is best done after any passive mobility techniques and stretching have been completed. This is an exercise I commonly use before any snatch movements or any overhead lifts. Passive mobility is good, but you have to make sure you have control and stability in these ranges to improve your lifts and prevent shoulder injuries. Give this exercise a try x5 reps before your next workout that includes snatches and see how good your shoulders feel.

Powerdot Athlete @jackie585 uses the resistance setting during warmup sets to activate her hamstrings before any posterior chain loading.
Moving through a range of motion with a light load while the PowerDot is in a contraction phase can help "wake up" and prime muscles that are difficult to activate. For many people, this includes the hamstrings and glutes.

Study the graphic carefully. It's important. Several weeks back I put up a pie chart 📈 showing how little patients see health professionals throughout the week (typically about less than 1% of their time).

As a health professional you need to be meticulous in discovering those habits/activities your patient does OUTSIDE 🌄the clinic that may be SENSITIZING their pain, and educate them about what to do differently.
.
It won't matter how evidence informed and well applied your treatment plan is if your patient leaves and continues the same old things. Their nervous systems will remain 'wound up' and on high alert 📣 if you don't educate them accordingly.
.
Ask yourself: does my patient know about some of the things that may be reinforcing their pain (i.e. sensitizers)? Have I educated them about how they can change (even if for a little bit). If not, you may find yourself paddling up 'shit creek' 😉 🚣 when your patient wonders why they're still the same.
.
Don't sit still. Make moves! 🛴

We have learned from Robertson et al. (2017) that knee crepitations can lead to worrying, anxiety and eventually to fear-avoiding behaviour. Research shows that most health professionals don't properly assess or ignore their patient's questions about it, which can send them into a negative downward spiral!
Therefore, it's important that we as health professionals are able to re-assure our patients and to properly explain our patients the meaning of their knee crepitus!
Ideally, just show them this video!!!
