Ladies, If you are bored with working out, just can’t seem to get motivated, and you focus primarily on your weight and how you look, try switching gears. Focus on doing cool stuff like surfing, rock climbing, hiking, biking, skiing and maintaining a fit enough body to move and run and jump or just play with your kids. Don’t let the online world fill your social media with toned butts and 6 pack abs. Most likely those “trainers” don’t have a clue what you need. Follow trainers who advocate more than that. The obsession with aesthetics is noise that distracts you from the important reasons you should be working out. And trust me that noise is boring! Doing bicep curls, leg presses, and tricep pulldowns can be useful but if that is the majority of what you are doing you will eventually burn out. Let’s have fun and enjoy moving! How long have you been a member at 12RND Ashgrove?
Since August 2016

Why do you train at 12RND?
No start times & a different workout everyday (which never seem to get any easier). Not having to think about it, just turn up & do it. Great trainers who push you hard, but in a nice way.

Have you always been a regular exerciser? If so, what have you been doing?
I've always tried to do something. Before kids I used to run, then after having the boys I was doing small group fitness classes up until I joined 12RND.
Least favourite exercise at 12RND?
Where to start ... 3min Row, Man Makers, High Knees & anything with the word "thruster" in it.

What is your next goal as far as fitness is concerned?
I'd like to start running again & improve my cardiac fitness a bit.

What do you do for fun away from work?
Try & catch up with family & friends. Read books. Drink wine.

Favourite saying:
"OK boys its bedtime!" Best part of the day. This is where the wine comes in.

Favourite food:
A really good cheese platter.

Favourite holiday destination:
I absolutely love Italy. But in reality, we go to Caloundra, which we also love!

I will hold my hand up and say I am not my best self in this weather 🙅‍♀️😂 I definitelty don't get as excited about leaving the house for my morning gym sessions but at this stage I don't even consider it as a decision. Here’s a few different ways to get full activation out of the chest! Conventional Training believes in isolating the chest, neglecting all the other muscle groups that correspond with the Pec Major, such as the the direct anterior connection to the Abdominals and Abductors. Posterior connections include the LATs down to the Glutes. When you learn these fascial connections it allows you to get the most out of your training and lets the body move the way it was intended rather than restricting movement with isolation.

▪️CONTRALATERAL BANDED STEP FLY
-The torso should be completely locked in, initiate the power through your step and let the hips follow, nothing from the hips up should move throughout the movement.

▪️BANDED JUMP PRESS
-The jump back will get ya. Try to stay low and centered. If your hips get ahead of you it will throw everything else off. Press and jump in unison using the same intensity to jump back to the starting position.

▪️BANDED PRESS WITH WEIGHTED GUARD AND HIP RESISTANCE -The band around the hips keeps you honest and prevents any excessive pelvic tilt, keep the momentum forward and centered. Nothing should move except for the arm pressing, no rotation, no caving through the torso.
