Day 32 of #100HappyDays! I lead listening to a podcast the other day with the Buddhist monk, Matthieu Ricard and he was saying how we often get into the habit of practicing negative emotions like worry and fear and neglect practicing positive ones. I’ve made a decision to not practice mom guilt when I notice it because I fee confident I’ve gotten plenty of practice as this point 😂. things that made me happy today: deciding not to practice mom guilt when i put on a cartoon for oliver so i could take a bath by myself and get ready; my favorite brunch; Os selfie game on point; charring with everyone around us; someone giving us so freshly made apple cider; perfect weather at the market; meeting up with @erosandnature and her new fiancé; the band at the market playing a josh ritter song; cleaning with O; Justin coming over for a visit and laughing and big hugs; Eli making it home safely from an epic bike ride; playing with beautiful safe skincare stuff and learning about self care; seeing Sara and reflecting on how much good stuff has happened since we met seven years ago; a delicious instantpot dinner; facetiming with family; Eli cleaning up and getting O to bed; an amazing conversation with @diadraper and feeling grateful for all the good witches in my life; Elis trail run for his costume; helping Stelly with her makeup; time for GOT!

"Concept of time is psychological"

Time is how we measure our interaction with self, thats what NLP says.

Why this quote is important to me personally is, 'If the concept of time is psychological, how do we bring value to our life with the same time?' What is the value you want the next 24 hours to create for yourself?

Good morning☺️

Have a great week ahead💐

365 Days of Dots, Day 52

For many years I faced the challenge of learning to manage depression. At one point in my journey I heard the phrase "you need to choose your emotions the way you choose your outfit in the morning". While this clearly isn't a comprehensive solution to this complex issue, it did get me thinking.
I have always loved polka dots. They are the perfect representation of organized chaos-- fun and interesting, but also orderly. I decided to start carrying with me every day something that had polka dots on it.
Each time I woke up in the morning and chose my dots for the day I told myself I was choosing hope. I was choosing to carry even a small piece of happiness with me to get me through whatever I faced.
Through the 365 days of dots project, I send sketchbook pages to friends, family, and community members to draw some dots, and then send the page back to me. Each day I will choose a page and add to it, to create a collaborative art piece.
This project is meant to show that we are all connected (despite the fact that depression often leads one to believe that they are all alone), and that something unique and beautiful comes from each connection we make with another person. I also get my daily dose of hope that I can share with others.
Follow along with me on my dot inspired journey!

When implementing a positive education curriculum, the best place to start is by finding out our character strengths. Our strengths influence how we think, feel, and act. When we can properly understand our key strengths, we can use them to overcome challenges, increase satisfaction in the activities we undertake, improve our relationships, and stay true to ourselves.
.
Teachers: try introducing the 'strength of the week' into your classroom.
.
Start by finding out your kids' character strengths (don't forget to find yours, too!). There are online surveys available for adults and children 10+. For younger children, you can assist them with the online survey by re-wording questions to suit their level OR simply use this exercise for discovering and exploring what character strengths are.
.
Introduce one new strength per week. Discuss:
🔹what the character strength is.
🔹examples of where we see people using this strength.
🔹how we can practice this strength.
.
Have children keep an eye out for classmates displaying this strength throughout the day. They can write the persons name + what they did on a sticky note, and display it on a 'strength of the week' wall. This can become a discussion point in itself, as you may refer back to it at the end of each day to reflect and analyse.
.
Understanding our strengths and knowing how to use them throughout our day to day lives can make a positive difference academically and socially.

Inspired by this past week at #adobemax, so let's play a game (please humor me): on a piece of paper, write down three things you're going to accomplish this week that will push your creative goals forward. Message me when they're done. I'm rooting for you! ✔️✔️✔️

Homeostasis.... A state of balance within mind, body and soul is so important. A vital component of positive mental health, less susceptibility to disease and related to overall happiness.
In our struggles of everyday life our bodies are pushed to the limits with pressure and stress! This is called the fight/ or flight mode. An intrinsic survival mechanism used to try and cope with such demands. If our bodies cannot cope it produces an overhaul of adrenaline that can be toxic.
This has drastic effects for the mind- body connection as over a long period of time the toxicity can kill neurotransmitters.... ever wonder why we can be forgetful while stressed?
Always take time out to slow down, feed the mind with a book or leaning, work- out in the gym or take a walk in the fresh air and eat healthy. This will fuel the mind, body & soul and result in equilibrium bringing the body back to its positive homeostasis state 💫 #mindbodysoul #psychologist #mindfulness #positivepsychology #livelovelaugh #irishmodel #fitnessmodel #fitfam #neuropsychology #physiology #success #wordsofwisdom #balance #wordstoliveby #life #mindbodyconnection

"It seems to me that the good life is not any fixed state. It is not, in my estimation, a state of virtue, or contentment, or nirvana, or happiness. It is not a condition in which the individual is adjusted, fulfilled, or actualized….The good life is a process, not a state of being…It is a direction, not a destination. The direction…is that which is selected by the total organism, when there is psychological freedom to move in any direction.” // my interpretation of Carl Rogers: the joy is in the journey... enjoy the ride 🤘#positivepsychology #positivity #mapp // 📸: @goulden.child
