So I've had my first lesson on using a #LongCane. I love it and it would seem I'm a natural at it (makes a change to be a natural at something #mobility related). I walked up and down corridors and across rooms and round occasional obstacles. Through all of that I didn't trip or stumble or kick myself at all. This was the first time in my life I've managed to walk in a straight line while looking sideways at something else! I was hopeful I would get more feedback and confidence when walking around in low light but even in brightly lit rooms I can't believe how much better my walking is. Actual straight lines without trying too hard or looking at my feet! Those who've seen me walk around in the real world will probably be able to tell the difference from the video! Lesson 2 is next week and we're tackling stairs! I'm actually feeling a little emotional at how much of an improvement I had even in just half an hour!

Correcting alignment and #biomechanics alone is not enough.
A massive part of #pain during locomotion, is the #body is telling us our rate of stabilization and the way we interpret and process information is TOO SLOW.
To change this we we need to stimulate the NERVOUS SYSTEM through #sensory #stimulation which has a effect on our #mechanoreceptors, of which there are different types. One of the most important places to stimulate these is the skin on the sole of the #foot . This will have a effect on: - pain
- posture
- joint position
- rate of stabilization
- the speed infomation is interpreted
- neuromuscular control

Questo muscolo ha stretti rapporti meccanici con la colonna e quindi se qualcosa non funziona può dare dei forti dolori lombari, può determinare dolori all'articolazione dell’anca, all'inguine, al pube e possono irradiarsi sulla parte anteriore della coscia; inoltre può dare anche sintomi che clinicamente possono sembrare delle problematiche di tipo intestinale o degli organi nelle vicinanze.
Oltre allo stretching, questo è un ottimo esercizio per riutilizzarlo assieme alla muscolatura limitrofe, in quanto richiede una stabilizzazione da parte degli addominali e una buona padronanza dell'appoggio del piede. Infine riprende il gesto motorio di molte discipline e può essere inserito in un programma di preparazione atletica.

Posting this here for some big time accountability.
