Which books are you grateful for?

Today on my website, I share my appreciation for Thanksgiving and, of course, books! I'll always be grateful to Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn for making time fly on a long (sleepless) plane ride from Australia to the U.S.

Taco Tuesday!
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your HAIR CUT and we'll talk about it." After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss the use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!" The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair...." To which his father replied with a slight smile of his face, "YES, AND THEY WALKED EVERY WHERE THEY WENT!" I am pretty sure that this young man didn't see that coming... Nor do I think most people realize or recognize Jesus's quick wit. I love when he was addressing the issue of being judgemental...I would have loved to see the expression on his face when he said, "How can you say to your neighbor, ‘Here—let me get that splinter out of your eye, when you’ve got a railroad plank in your own eye?” (Matt. 7:4) Gentle humor mixed with a little laughter sometimes can make the biggest impact and I'm pretty sure those people didn't see it coming... 😉

Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” -make it count-

"Walking along a blade’s edge was only fun until the blade stopped being a metaphor.” - Margaret Rogerson, An Enchantment of Ravens
🍂
Yesterday I finished An Enchantment of Ravens and I loved it! It was funny and adorable and really helped me escape my real life. The world was rich and beautiful (and full of so many ugly creatures) that I would happily explore it more if it wasn't just a standalone. I adored Rook, he was such an oddball and constantly made me laugh out loud at some of the things he said and did. I wasn't expecting to get emotional, but some moments were just that cute and heartbreaking. I found myself getting a little teary. I don't read a lot of fantasy standalones, but I really enjoyed this one!
🍂
Have you read An Enchantment of Ravens yet? What did you think of it?

'What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?' - John Green .

Lifting books is pretty remarkable if you ask me. This photo was so hard to take. I couldn't even feel my arm afterwards, okay, that's an exaggeration but if you have ever lifted books single-handedly you know what I'm talking about. Thanks to my best friend, @_.hadiaa._ for helping me with this photos plus many others. .
.
In my brief bookstagram career, this is the craziest thing I've done so far.
Q: What's the craziest thing you have done for bookstagram?

Busy day getting ready for my trip to Paris!! 😍 But still keeping up with my reading.. started reading Papillon today. I loved reading it for the first time as a 14 year old, couldn't put it away, now the time has come when I think I want to go back to it ..I just have a thing for this book, can't help it 😀❤️ Today's picture is of my vanilla latte 😋 and the unforgettable 1984. I never like to say who should read what but this book is in my opinion an essential read 😎

Mulk Raj Anand was one among the first Indian writers to gain International fame. This book was inspired by the sucide of his aunt who was ostracized for having a meal with a Muslim woman.I like how he voiced his opinion against social injustice that prevailed in our country during those times.
.
This book was published in 1935,and has a forward by E.M Forster.
.
Kindly let me know on books which have you read that has theme about social injustice in it ?

👗Day 21 of #bookishscavengerhunt17: Dress on Cover.👗

When I think of dresses on book covers, I think of The Selection series by Keira Cass. The covers are so beautiful!😍 Especially with all of the cute dresses on them.✨ The dress on Ash and Bramble— gorgeous!🙈 I wish I had it in my closet!❤️

Only a few more days until I unveil my December bookstagram challenge!🙈 I had so much fun coming up with the prompts and making the photo.❤️ And maybe before too long I can have us all a Christmas book tag!✨ Comment if you’re interested in participating my bookstagram challenge!🤗

Does anyone have any plans for Black Friday shopping? Believe it or not, I have never been!🙊 My schedule will booked that day.🤣 I have to be at work before seven, and we don’t close until eight that night!🙈 So straight after Thanksgiving I have to get my immediate photos taken, write something for the photo, and get it saved as a draft to I can upload it quickly as I get ready in the morning.😁

Happy Tuesday! I realized yesterday that I forgot to share my planned post because I was so focused on getting a paper done. Anyways, one of my personal reading challenges for 2018 is to discover new authors and genres because almost all the books I read this year were fantasy.
-
QOTD: What are some new authors and genres you discovered this year?
-
@corymareads tagged me to do the #hsmbooktag and I’m finally getting caught up. I tagged a bunch of you if you want to join
🎵Breaking Free (a book you can rely on to get you out of a reading slump)- Crooked Kingdom
🎵Now or Never (a book you started reading but couldn’t finish)- Fangirl and I'll Give You The Sun. I tried.
🎵The Boys Are Back (favorite bromance)- Sherlock and Watson
🎵Night to Remember (favorite scene in any book)- Hard to choose, but maybe the bathroom chapter with Kaz and Inej in Crooked Kingdom. It was a really vulnerable scene for these characters.
🎵Gotta Go My Own Way (a book you thought you loved but are no longer fond of)- Can't think of anything
🎵Fabulous (a character that is extra dramatic)- Carswell Thorne. In a really funny kind of way
🎵We’re All in This Together (favorite squad)- Harry, Ron, and Hermione
-
P.s. I haven't read this book, so no book quote today. Got this on sale last month

Next up on the docket, Safe House by Traci Hunter Abramson. If you know me, you know I love everything hacker, technology, and spies! That’s one of the reasons I love #thegirlwiththedragontattoo so much! What I gathered from the description is that there is a top-secret program designed to protect members of one the most elite government organizations, but the guardians of the program all being hunted down one by one. Who is the traitor in their midst? This book has 4.44 stars on #goodreads, and has been out since October 2017 (only the e-book version, the paperback will be coming out in October 2018). It has 293 pages and is 13.50 CAD. I will keep you updated 😊

November 21, Tuesday
.
"There was a strange knowingness in her eyes that spoke of nights spent pouring over pages and drowning with the words."
.
So this is first time I've tried something with flowers, albeit ones' in the process of drying up. I hope you like my half assed attempt at this floral thingy. Also, I might not be posting anything for a while due that monster that has always plagued us - EXAMS. But today I have a question for you.

Q. If you had to assist ANY antagonist/villain from any series achieve her/his evil mission, whom would you choose? And assume that no one's being held captive or threatened to be hurt (murdered brutally), and that you're doing this out of your own free will.

A. I think I would choose Moriarty. Not that I don't love Sherlock I DO but just... he's interesting. And no character I'm absolutely in love with would die then...

Margaret Atwood fans, got an Oryx & Crake review up on the website for you. Let me know what you think!
LINK IN BIO

“Oryx and Crake is dark. Not dark in the definition of horror, not dark in the definition of killer clowns and gore. It is dark in the way it reflects on humanity as the species that we are, but Atwood describes all this darkness and eeriness in beautiful prose.”

"After ruining things for myself by reading her journal, I made sure I ruined things for both of us by telling her that I had read her journal. Why couldn't I just live with the knowledge and let the shame dissipate over time? What was - what is - the matter with me? Do I just have a bigger self-destruct button, and like to push it harder and more incessantly, than everyone else? Perhaps, but also the language of the events was at least as erotic to me as the events themselves, and when I was no longer reading her words, I was no longer very adamantly in love with Rebecca. This is what is known as a tragic flaw."
