We are glad to say Our book donation initiative #Share4Care has reached the six education district in Lagos , though we haven't reached every school under each district , we made sure our books reached at least two schools in a district.

Here is our National Coordinator @estherijewere donating one thousand copies (1000) of "Breaking the Silence" to Agindingbi grammar school" , it was shared between the senior and junior school students .

Since donating the books we have gotten feedbacks from the students who have either called our helplines or some of the other listed help centres in the book ,to report cases of sexual violence within and outside the home. Some even call to report cases on behalf of their friends .

Each book donated to a child will not only save him or her but also the entire family through the spring ball effect.

You can also donate to a school of your choice or one within your community or youths of your church or mosque. A copy of the book is N300

Talking the walk...... Big thanks to everyone that supported our #SHARE4CARE initiative in commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism , while we await others who pledged to support the cause we decided to donate the first set of books from the funds we recieved so far, we visited three schools under Alimosho LGA, one of the of the most populated education district in Lagos.
These are schools that hardly benefit from such initiatives, we went all the way to Ijegun Community (After Ikotun Egbe), Ijagemo and Ijedodo respectively and donated to three schools , we couldn't engage the students as they are presently writing their exams but we got few of them to pose with copies of the book while the packs were donated to the school authorities to give out to the students and also keep some in their libraries respectively.

These are core "Grassroots" schools and unlike there urban counterparts , they are not well informed on the scourge of Rape and child sexual abuse, as a matter of fact Alimosho has the highest prevalence of Rape and defilement in Lagos according to a recent report by the Domestic and sexual violence response team . Ijegun community high school for example has 1,500 students but we could only donate 300 copies of the book to them while the rest we shared between the other two schools, We hope to cover up that figure as we get more donations and reach out to more schools in this area.
Thank you for your support .

#ReadAndShare 🚫Some Misconceptions and Baseless Traditions🚫

There are many wrong traditions associated with the Day of Aashooraa and Muharram, which have nothing to do with the Shariah. We have to guard ourselves from falling into these wrong traditions and bid’ah because this is also sin.

1) Some other people attribute the sanctity of Aashooraa to the martyrdom of Husain, RA. No doubt, the story of Husain, RA is one of the most tragic episodes of our history. Yet, the sanctity of ‘Ashura’ cannot be ascribed to this event for the simple reason that the sanctity of ‘Ashura’ was established during the days of the Prophet (pbuh) , much earlier than the birth of his grandson Husain.
2) Some people consider Muharram an evil or unlucky month, for Husain, RA was killed in it. So they don’t hold weddings, and other celebrations during this month. This is again a baseless concept, which is contrary to the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah. Having superstitions, such as this, is committing a kind of shirk since one associates a particular event or person with having power to harm or do good and only Allaah is the One Who has power over all things.
3)Some people think it is Sunnah to prepare a particular type of meal on the 10th, and they hold big gatherings for this purpose. This, again has no basis in the Sharee‘ah.
4) Some people mourn and lament over the death of Hussain RA and hold special ceremonies for this very purpose.and beat themself , just look Allah clearly said dont harm yourself in these months...still we go againts Allah order.
However, the Prophet (pbuh) has forbidden us from holding mourning ceremonies on the death of any person, which was the practice of the people of jahiliyyah (ignorance). “He is not from our group who slaps his checks, tears his clothes and cries in the manner of the people of jahiliyyah.” (Bukhaari)

And if you really think about it, it is the greatest merit and reward that Hussain RA received, when he attained martyrdom for the sake of Allaah.
5) Some people go to the other extreme and dress up and cook special dishes, etc. as a kind of celebration for this Day and that is ALSO against the Quraan and Sunnah.
