Plantar fasciitis is a common orthopaedic condition with many possible causes. Pain is usually present at or near the underside of the heel. It can be painful to walk, especially in the mornings or after periods of being off your feet. @thefootcollective
Treatment usually starts with loosening and releasing the plantar fascia tissue of the arch. The root causes as to why this problem occurs must be identified, but can include foot and ankle stiffness, intrinsic foot weakness, changes in footwear, poor foot control etc.

Optimal footwear reduces ankle sprains

Footwear cushioning disrupts your ability to sense the ground below you. Putting a layer of air or foam under your feet is the same thing as blindfolding your eyes. Allowing your foot to feel the ground is essential for injury prevention - especially for preventing ankle sprains

When you blindfold your feet, it shouldn’t be a surprise that your reaction time becomes slower. Cushioning also elevates your foot from the ground and creates more leverage and distance for your ankle to roll over if it happens to do so
👣👣
Moral of the story: reduce the risk of spraining your ankle and the potential severity of a sprain should it happen by using barefoot or minimal footwear with little to no cushioning. Better footwear choices for injury prevention, improved foot health and optimal movement

Every joint in your body needs a mix of mobility and stability. The knee for example is very mobile in the ↕️sagittal plane (flexion/extension), needs quite a bit of stability in the ↔️frontal plane (side to side) and a healthy mix in the 🔃transverse plane (twisting). While mobility is inherent to the joint itself, stability tends to rely on the joints above and below. Sticking with our knee example, that frontal and transverse plane stability is created by having adequate ankle mobility and hip control.

So if you have knee pain, you most likely need to be addressing the hip, ankle, and foot too.

This is an sample routine to build that stability. The progression goes as follows:

🔼Level 1: Build isolated strength in the hips.
🔼Level 2: Integrate that into multiplanar movements.
🔼Level 3: Load the patterns and increase movement complexity.

Use this routine a few times per week to start seeing you knee pain disappear!
