We are obsessed with the word “secret.” If you don’t believe me, look at the amount of books & YouTube videos that have the word “secret” in their titles - “the secret to success,” “the secret to living the life you have always wanted to live,” “the secret to becoming a millionaire,” etc. The problem is, none of them reveal what the real secret is - discipline is the secret! If we have the courage to ask for help, if we get real with our team, if we hire a coach, if we don’t allow our feelings to dictate our actions, if we reward the process, & if we give ourselves more grace, then we will develop more discipline. Discipline leads us to our destiny!

Did you know we are psychologically programmed to perform better when competing against another person❓😏. Norman Triplett (the grandfather of sports psychology) after observing cyclists 🚴🏾‍♂️ were faster in races than they were in solo time trials, decided to conduct a study on competing cyclists. His research found that they had significantly faster times when racing against other cyclists than racing alone “bodily presence of another contestant serves to liberate latent energy NOT ORDINARILY AVAILABLE”
SO this means that if you aren’t achieving the results you want at the moment you now have a good excuse to get a gym buddy, workout partner or a personal trainer who trains with you as this will psychologically and therefore physically push you further to get the results you want 👌🏾👊🏾

Mock meet! Yesterday morning I woke up to puking in a bucket so that was a good start. With help from my teammates I decided to go lift anyway. I was running on a bun and some sprite. Managed:
Squat: 225-235-245(failed)
Bench: 120-130-140(grind)
Deadlift: 225-245-265(grind)
I had been trying sumo but it just never sat well with me so I went conventional for the mock meet. Still hit a PR even though it was rough. Sports Psychology is a very important part of SSi’s session plans. We incorporate 15 minutes of the weeks reflection. Discussing different aspects of the players weekly activities. The questions I base this 15 min window on could include homework, nutrition, their sport, how they are feeling about training etc. we need to make sure as parents, that our players mental fitness is just as strong as their physical fitness. Smart players make better choices on the pitch and are more inclined to absorb information given.

Anyone else miss the this era of entertainers??!! I recall my Grandparents playing this lounge music daily. Sammy broke barriers! I'm sure it was his commitment that moved him to face his fears and push through the trials and adversity! Avoiding fear makes the fear grow! Fighting fear leads to anger & hatred. Freezing in fear leads to getting stuck! Move towards it, feel it, acknowledge it, say 'hi' to it , but don't let it rule you. Ask: How big is my God? I've asked myself this as I navigate life raising two teenagers. I've had days in the past when I didn't know how I was going to pay for repairs and clothes for school. I've had months when I had to go without and ask for help. It's humbling. And I've been down to the last 5 dollars in the account days before the first of the month and fear sets in. The commitment to be present for my kids meant sacrificing work time. But somehow God provided. As you stay committed, step into fear and take action. Fear defuses and decreases in intensity! Whatever your goals are, stay committed knowing action overcomes fear. What action do you need to take today? Asking for help? Working a second job? Being present with your kids and spending time with them?
