Out of the frying pan, into the fire 🔥
I seem to put myself in this predicament a lot. It’s amazing to me how often we put ourselves in situations where we know the outcome probably isn’t going to be good yet we do it anyways. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results... 🙋🏼‍♀️ I think a lot of times I try to avoid letting people down or making a mistake, which usually leads to an even bigger problem down the road when I take on more than I can handle or when everything starts to unravel.

I’m definitely trying to be more open in 2018. If I can’t or don’t want to do something then I’m not gonna do it (unless it’s work or something I must do). I think being more open and honest with people about your intentions and what you’re doing ultimately pays off down the road instead of trying to fit into an expectation. I speak for a lot of us when I say I frequently cancel plans with friends after a long day of work or I commit to things I can’t give my full attention to all in the name of not letting someone down. Honesty really is the best policy. I’m one of those people who works best under stress and time pressures but I really don’t think that’s the best way to get things done or manage our lives. Accountability leads to self-security. If we can’t trust ourselves to be committed and honest then can we ever really trust someone else?

I've been using sage for over 20 years. It cleanses and freshens the air. It works great on days one has been surrounded by heavy or draining energy. I have found it reduces my stress level, clears my mind, uplifts my energy and the energy of the space I burn it in. For these reasons alone, I recommend it to everyone; add in its antiseptic properties, it's just a no-brainer.

Sage smoke has been used for thousands of years for its therapeutic properties.

Although widely known as an herb for clearing negative/heavy energy from people and spaces, there is more to burning sage. In fact, there is science behind its medicinal properties.

The smoke releases negative ions into the atmosphere which cancels out and balances positive ions.

Research has shown that exposure to large amounts of positive ions can have a harmful effect on the body: asthma, depression, irritability, fatigue, anxiety, tension.

Here's some tips for sage smudging:
-it burns very hot, use a heat-proof bowl to catch ashes and embers. I use sand in a ceramic bowl.
-DON'T use it in windy areas for the same reason.
-when smudging yourself, don't forget: the soles of your bare feet, the top of your head, the back of your neck and the area of the heart chakra.
-Keep the sage stick at least 6 inches from the area you are smudging.
-Use your hand or a feather to waft/direct the smoke towards the area you would like to cleanse.
-if you don't like the smell of sage, other alternatives include: cedar, lavender, sweet grass, frankincense and myrhh.
