Repost from @lenckdrank using @RepostRegramApp - Repost: In case anyone is wondering how I rate the wines I taste. #notagoodwine = less than 2.5/5, #averagewine = 2.5/5 , #fairlygoodwine = bit under 3/5 #prettygoodwine = 3/5 #goodwine = 3.5/5 #verygoodwine = 4/5 #excellentwine = 4.5/5 #fantasticwine = 5/5. I don't get paid for any posts and the wines I've tasted are a combination of being self funded, shared with friends, samples or tasted at trade events.

Repost from @lenckdrank using @RepostRegramApp - 2015 #torres #coronas #tempranillo #verygoodwine #fullbodied #redwine generous upfront fruit of red cherries and blueberries which are rounded out with sweet vanillin oak characters, a touch of mint, violet notes and mellow tannins on the finish #catalonia #spain #winelover #wineoclock #lenckdranktempranillo #lenckdrankspanish 🍷
The secret to this wines success, is that it actually has some Cabernet Sauvignon blended with the Tempranillo and I believe it's somewhere around the 15% range (changes a little every year). This addition has given the wine extra structure and balance. 🍷
So, here we are! It's the end of the working week, its #friyay and its #wineoclock. It's time for a trusty, value for money red and this Torres Coronas ticks many, many boxes as far as I'm concerned. I can't afford to drink the good stuff all the time and this is one of my go-to wines for that everyday occasion. It's like comfort food, but in a bottle!

Repost from @lenckdrank using @RepostRegramApp - 2012 #Hugel #pinotblanc #verygoodwine #dry #whitewine ripe nectarine and white peach fruits with elements of rose hip and Turkish delight and low level acidity. To me there aren't many wines that go with chilli dishes, but due to the low level acidity this should be a winner. #alsace #france #winegeek #winelover #lenckdrankpinotblanc #lenckdrankfrenchwhite
The Hugel Family and Alsace itself have an intriguing history. Between 1870 and 1945, Alsace changed countries 4 times, being part of France then Germany, then France, then Germany and back to France again. The Hugels have been winemakers in Alsace since 1639 and they lived through every one of the changes. In 1939, when they were French, they planned a party to celebrate their 300th anniversary, but on that same day war was declared and they had to cancel their celebration.
Not long thereafter, the Germans occupied France and the two eldest sons Georges and Johnny were conscripted into the German Army and both were sent to the Russian front. Nearing the end of the war Georges returned to Alsace to recuperate from injury and during this time Alsace was liberated and once recovered, he joined the French Army. His brother Johnny was still a german soldier and they actually fought against each other in a battle at Lake Constance, but both returned home safely to continue working in the family Business.
Alsace is regarded as one of the premium wine regions in the world for aromatic varieties like Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and also Pinot Blanc. Pinot Blanc, like Pinot Gris is a white variety which is a genetic mutation of Pinot Noir, and they both have similar characteristics, with Pinot Blanc being slightly fleshier and with lower acidity.

Vegolasagne & detta underbara röda vinet blev lördagsmiddag med fin vän. Vad jag bjöd på till dessert vågar jag knappt tänka på mer😱😁 (innehöll bl.a. kondenserad mjölk & vispad grädde!)

NV #nyetimber #classiccuvee #verygoodwine #dry #sparklingwine refined fruits of green apples and pears, lemon brioche and a touch of orange peel with nice length to finish #westsussex #hampshire #england # winegeek #champagnelover #lenckdranksparkling #lenckdrankenglish this is my first experience with an English wine. I have of course been aware of Nyetimber and it's reputation for producing premium sparkling wine, but it is not sold in Australia. I was lucky enough to be in the presence of some winemakers and one of them pulled out a bottle to share. He had just finished a vintage working there and had brought it back with him. Nyetimber is of course the most famous of all the wine brands in the U.K. It was first established in 1986, when a wealthy American couple, Stuart and Sandy Moss, bought the estate. Everyone thought they were mad when they decided to plant a vineyard for sparkling production with a focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunière. Under the guidance of Consulting Champagne Winemaker Jean-Manuel Jacquinot they released their first wines from the 1992 vintage to rave reviews and very quickly they became famous. In 2001 the Moses decided to retire and return back to the USA and sold to musician Andy Hill. He bought the property more for the house but maintained the vineyards until 2006 when he sold to Dutch Entrepreneur Eric Heerema, who already owned a vineyard in West Sussex and was an English resident. Heerema wanted to make world class sparkling wine and he went on a big expansion plan growing vineyards from 16ha to the current 150ha and he also expanded vineyards into Hampshire and these now account for about 40% of production. He appointed Canadian husband and wife team Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix to make the wines and one of the major steps they have taken since their arrival is to use Malolactic fermention, to help soften and round out the flavours, compared to the previous regime. An interesting comparison with Champagne, is that the fruit yields are lower. In a big year Nyetimber will get around 8-9 tonnes per hectare, compared to 18 for Chardonnay and 13 for Pinot Noir in Champagne.

2010 #stoneyvineyard #cabernetsauvignon #verygoodwine #mediumbodied #redwine classic blackberry and black currant fruits with savoury oak, leather, tobacco and herbal notes are intertwined to form a complexity of flavours, as the wine finishes with smooth, silky tannins and freshness. #coalrivervalley #tasmania #winetime #winegeek #lenckdrankcabsauv #lenckdrankcoalrivervalley this is the little brother (or sister) to the much acclaimed Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon, which of course holds a Langtons Classification as one of Australia's Icon Wines. Whereas the Domaine A is regarded as the best Cab Sauv produced in Tasmania, the Stoney Vineyard Cab Sauv to me, is consistently the best value Cab in Tasmania and it also has terrific capacity to age, as this example is testament to. There's plenty of life left in this wine, from the excellent 2010 vintage.
