Went to Walmart today! I was doing a really really good job, lots of retrievals and directional cues ☺️ Unfortunately I did have an β€œoops” moment when I barked at a moving wheelchair 😞 I recovered really quickly and the people were very nice, Mom had them pet me and she gave me treats the whole time so I would have more of a positive association πŸ‘ Someone wheeled a tall cart full of chicken πŸ— by me after that but I handled it really well! β€’ 🍩⭐️19 weeks⭐️🍩 β€’ #ServiceDog #ServiceDogInTraining #WorkingDog #DogTraining #Spoonie #ChronicIllness #EDS #POTS #CSS #GoldensOfInstagram #GoldenRetrieversOfInstagram #GloriousGoldens #ILoveGolden_Retrievers #GoldenRetriever #GoldenRetrieverPuppy #GoldenPuppy #ServiceDogsOfInstagram #SDIT #PuppyDog #PuppyLove #Puppy #PuppiesOfInstagram #InstaPuppy #DogsOfInstagram #InstagramDogs #ILoveMyDog #HappyDog #NotAllDisabilitiesAreVisible

Elias

Not a problem, and yeah it is so much fun! If your pup knows "paws up/on" it's pretty easy to teachπŸ’™πŸ‘

@my_golden_lifeline thank-you for the tips! I would love to get a long board or something and teach the dogs to ride it, I think it would be so fun! πŸΎπŸ’–

Elias

I understand the feeling, I havent ever had Elias bark in a public place but when he was vested. When he first encountered a skateboard it was in a tunnel so it was loud and on brick and a rude college kid rode about a foot infront of him and startled him to the point of a scared big boy bark, haha. So I taught Elias how to ride a skateboard☺️ on all different textures and also took him to a skate park to socialize with people riding themπŸ‘ Think of them as kids you have to show them the diversity of the world in a positive way from items, noises to people and placesπŸ’œπŸ–’ He will be okayπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜™ So maybe next time you are at the store get in one of the electric wheelchairs that the store has and teach him to walk next to it, bring something super yummy like turkey slices and try using a clicker or saying yes everytime he sniffs it or walks next to it for ten seconds, then thirty, then a minute and so onπŸ’œ

@my_golden_lifeline thank-you!! That’s really encouraging. Stuff with wheels seem to freak him out, I’m gonna try my best to get him used to it all. I feel bad when he barks though, I know it’s not out of aggression or him being an asshole, he’s just nervous. Still embarrassing when it happens in public though

@kaytoo_the_pibble can’t blame him for being afraid, all that matters is that he recovered so quickly and was really interested in the people and the wheelchair afterwards πŸ˜¬πŸ‘

I’m The Droid Yer Looking For

I freaked out about any barking too. That little face though!
