I forgot to let my Instagram peeps know! Yesterday my mom was able to contact me through a kind stranger who lent her a working phone (not a lot of working phones left in PR after hurricane Maria). For the first time in six days I felt like I could finally breathe! Things are not perfect though! Her home is still flooded and she has no electricity, no water and she is running out of provisions fast (like almost every Puerto Rican on the island). Lots of desperate people on the island, but also a lot of people helping each other out as well. Hoping I can get her out soon.
This is my mother, Maritza Soto-López. She lives in the neighborhood known as "Los Cocos" in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. She is originally from Camuy and most likely would seek refuge in Camuy. It's been almost 72 hours since I last spoke to her, right before Hurricane Maria crossed Puerto Rico. My brother, Ricardo Cordero-Soto and I are desperately trying to get any information on her. On the lower side of the picture you can see some of her friends. Lower left side of the picture shows my mom with one of her closets friends, Irma also known as "Pochi". We are waiting to hear from her as well. Any information on my mother or her friends is greatly appreciated. #HurricaneMaria #MariaPR #HuracánMaría #Quebradillas #Camuy #PuertoRico @ricardojavier81 @0chella0
We did it!! Picked up the leaves with my hands and placed them in garbage bags with the help of Juan and S. Michelle! About to take a warm victory shower since my feet are freezing!!
The parking area at our complex was flooding, but I've been looking at the sewer all day and thought something was odd... Decided to do something about it! #HurricaneIrma #Hurricane #Irma #Flooding #TeamWork #NotPartOfTheProblem #TakingAction #RiskedIt #WorthIt #Orlando #Florida #Huracán #HuracánIrma @mr.juandalf @smi_vaz
