We've got some of the coolest cats in town... Head over to our website to bring one home to foster or adopt
PAWS Chicago has saved more than 170 cats from Chicago Animal Care and Control this year. Our Intake team is there every day of the week looking to save more lives. We can only keep up this rate if some of our cats find foster or adoptive homes. Spread the word and SHARE with your family and friends because these cats are too cute not to have a home.
Della is a 2-year-old white cat who was brought to our Clinic through our TNR program for her spay surgery, microchip and vaccines. One look at her and we knew we needed to admit her into our program.
This winter was not kind to Della and she was suffering from frostbite on her ears and tested positive for feline leukemia (FELV), an incurable virus easily transmitted to other cats. One top of that, she's recovering from an Upper Respiratory Infection. To give Della the best quality of life, we’re looking for a cat-free foster home while Della recovers from her URI and until we run additional test to confirm the status of her FeLV.
If you have a cat-free home and have experience with shy kitties and would like to give Della a warm home to recover in, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Imani’s owner Joyce lives alone and her cat is her world. Joyce struggles with certain barriers and the PAWS Pet Food Pantry allows cats like Imani to stay at home where they are happy and loved. “Imani is the closest person to me. I’m responsible for his wellbeing, and he makes my life complete. There’s no one in the world I love more than him.
Our Pet Food Bank is VERY LOW on cat food, which helps serve our PAWS for Life clients and families needing emergency assistance. This program enables pets to stay in their home with their family.
Any donation of DRY CAT FOOD, wet cat food, cat litter, and dog food is greatly appreciated! We graciously accept unopened donations at any of our locations or through Amazon (link in bio). Thank you!
Your donations will make a huge difference in the lives of animals in need! Please share to spread the word.
Tyson came into our program in April 2017 where he was diagnosed with diabetes and hypothyroidism. Weighing in at 80 pounds, we knew we had some work to do to get this four-year-old Beagle/Labrador mix healthy. We created a plan for Tyson that included getting his medications under control, long walks with staff and volunteers, and making exercise fun by incorporating his favorite thing in the whole world – fetch with tennis balls! He’s now enjoying his active lifestyle at a svelte 45 pounds, and loves showing off how much progress he’s made now that his diabetes being managed!
Follow along on Tyson’s adventure today on our Instagram stories!
LOST CAT REUNITED WITH FAMILY AFTER 10 YEARS!
Last weekend, a special cat named Oliver was brought to our Clinic for a TNR appointment by one of our regular colony caretakers. When we scanned for a microchip, we found out that it was registered to a family in Lake Zurich and he had been missing for 10 years! The microchip company reported that the animal had passed away. We gave his family the unexpected call of a lifetime and they were overjoyed!
We learned that 10 years ago, Oliver (affectionately known as Ollie) accidentally got out of his home and after weeks of searching, his family had given up hope thinking he may have passed away. Turns out Oliver was lost and wandered his way to downtown Chicago and has been cared for by a cat colony caretaker for many years. As you can imagine, Ollie’s family is over the moon about his safe return. Their daughter Laura had picked Oliver to be part of their family 10 years ago and reunited with him tonight!
PAWS Chicago is thrilled to have played a part in reuniting Oliver with his family after all these years. This is a great testament to the importance of microchipping your pets and TNR. It is very important to ensure your pet is microchipped because if they become lost, you are far more likely to be reunited if they are microchipped. Ollie is proof of how lifechanging microchips truly are!
Congratulations, Gabriella! This resilient dog overcame unbelievable obstacles and is now a PAWS alum lovingly known as Rutabaga!
On Halloween, she was found tied to an abandoned building with severe injuries after someone doused her in bleach, which burned her eyes and other parts of her body. Fortunately, PAWS Chicago was able to bring her into our Medical Center and provide lifesaving treatment. Rutabaga made an incredible recovery and once she was no longer in pain, she truly let her personality shine and won the hearts of every staff and volunteer at PAWS Chicago.
During her recovery journey, Rutabaga met many kind people who cared for her and loved her. Despite her previous circumstances, Rutabaga proved to be a trusting and loving dog with a bright personality. One special place was her foster home with Alison and Pedro and their Labrador, Beau. When Rutabaga settled in, it was clear this foster home was going to become a permanent one. Today, they made it official!
Thank you for everyone’s support and encouragement during Rutabaga’s healing process.
While some of you may not like the snow, Malarky LOVES it! He’s also loving his time in foster where he can romp and play in the yard to his heart’s content. He’s a sweet and gentle five-year-old Lab mix. Malarky is a bit shy, but once he feels comfortable in the home, his goofy and loving personality really comes out. Watch the video to see for yourself!
Malarky gets along well with other animals (even cats!) and because he is a shy pup, he would do much better with another confident dog in the home to show him that the world isn’t so scary after all. And a home with a yard would just be the cherry on top. Malarky has lots of love to give and is hoping the right person will come along and give him the chance he deserves to grow into the wonderful dog that is hiding within. If you’re interested in meeting him, email email@example.com.
Many of you have inquired how our girl Celia is doing. She came to our Medical Center under unfortunate circumstances after seeking warmth in the engine compartment of a car and getting entangled in the fan belts when the driver didn’t realize she was there. She sustained life threatening injuries, but thankfully got a second chance at PAWS.
She is a survivor and went into a foster home this weekend to continue her recovery. Her foster mom noted that “Celia is the sweetest snuggle bug” and a sweetheart. Celia knows that she’s safe now. She will continue healing in her foster home until she is ready for adoption. We don’t know how long the process will take, but will be sure to update you on her recovery!
