#yogagirlchallenge has come to an end. But my determination for practicing #yogaeverydamday is to truly be every dam day regardless of posting on IG or not. The yoga challenge has helped me see that I long to heal my wounds and move forward. Not push it away as I've done for years. Take time to rediscover my strengths and weaknesses. Accept that I will make mistakes and keep learning. Keep learning for me means don't repeat the habits that have gotten you nowhere. It's ok to be scared of change but take the risk anyways. See what opportunities open. See what else comes to light. See what fades away and doesn't hurt. Be open to receiving.
Thank you @yoga_girl for the challenge. It's shed light on things that I needed to see. I am grateful.
Day 28~~ Practiced a vinyasa flow with my friend @cry_r0d94. We couldn't snap a pic because honestly we were caught up in getting food afterwards.
We had glasses of wine and shared our experiences during savasana.
This is a picture she has in her home and it reminds me that yoga isn't always a solo path. You're not alone.

I was spending quality time with my hubs and dog. Lately we've been hooked on movie nights.
I practiced this morning with sun salutations and deep hamstring stretches. Here are pics swipe, to see how I stretch to get into bow. Breathing is key and knowing your limitations.

Day 23~~ ♀️
Playing around with wall headstand this evening. One day I won't need the wall...one day.
Continuing my last post...this month I've broken a bad habit. Practicing #yogaeverydamnday . I have gotten on my mat every day. Even if it's for 5 min I have definitely done it. I've felt lighter and have been in tune with my body. Listening when it says focus on lower back, stretch hips, sweat sweat sweat, breathing exercise, etc.. Practice practice practice
Doing the #yogagirlchallenge has brought attention to my body. I've become more aware of it lately.
Tonight I listened, I didn't attend the vinyasa class I planned to go to. Instead I made some tea, took a 20 min nap and practiced hip openers. Slow and steady.
In a perfect world we would all pause and listen in but we can't always do that.
There are opportunities every day to practice awareness.
Day 19~~ Yesterday...
LATE POST: Waiting for road side assistance to help with my car battery after work.
My yoga was practicing being positive and appreciation. Being positive because I start thinking "great now there might be something else wrong. How much is it going to cost. Fuck!" Then appreciation because I live with friends who've become my brothers and sisters that will help me, no questions asked. When shit hits the fan they'll drop everything even their sleep and help.
Car trouble can really put your mood down. This was my situation yesterday. Thankfully I found a solution and it was fixed. #yogagirlchallenge #yogaeverydamnday @yoga_girl
Monday movie night with my snoring dog on my lap and the hubs. Watching my favorite movie When Harry Met Sally. Ferrero Roche chocolates and wine on the menu. As much as you show up for yourself show up for others. Just as much as you're going through shit days someone else is going through it too.
I spent the day with my friend and we held space for each other to just air out all the crap we've been carrying around. It's important to show gratitude for our friends that confide in us when they're vulnerable. Sometimes people need someone to truly listen NOT to listen to respond. We're so quick to cut the other person off when they're venting and say "yeah me too", "this happened to so and so" . definitely not holding space for them. It's okay to comment but at times people just want someone to listen.
Be truly there for them. Don't try to get your point across. Unless of course they ask and need help.
Be a good listener

Day 16~~ I forgot how good it feels to put on your favorite songs and sing in the shower.
It made me think of @jenpastiloff post "Which mantra are you choosing today? I'm garbage or I am enough it's on you". This year I've put work into truly embracing that mantra. It's been one of my biggest struggles all my life.
I can write books on the mistakes I've made as much as the next person can. I can also say I've learned a lot about myself in the process. I've shed layers of my childhood, letting go of the pain I held on to, the darkness I've kept hidden hoping one day it would disappear, the unworthiness I've felt.
I AM ENOUGH!! Fuck shame, fuck guilt, fuck the voice that says otherwise. Fuck the bullshit stories you make up about yourself. Fuck all the lies you believe.

Frustration was present before this side plank pic. Practice was done later than I'd like it to be. Rushing in the mornings is my least favorite thing. I try to avoid it but sometimes it happens.
I did sun salutations and pranayama. After practice I felt better and guess what? I ended up having time to do everything and didn't feel rushed. #yogagirlchallenge #yogaeverydamnday @yoga_girl #notgoingtofakeit
Day 13 After a days work I came home to have friends over and the kitchen clean (thanks to the hubs). We watched Louis CK 2017 and laughed our asses off. Sometimes all we need is a big laugh and beers to share.
Flow and release. We've all been through so much this week and need a big laugh. Simply be happy and laugh til you can't breathe. It's what life is all about. Laughs and creating memories.

Day 12 Bruce finally met my brothers dogs Moomoo and Porter. They're staying over night since they still have no power. I'm glad I was able to offer them a cool place and a hot shower for the night.
My mom finally has power as well! Things are slowly but surely looking up.
My form of yoga today was listening to @yoga_girl podcast today on my way to work and going back home. Listening to her say to keep being vulnerable and share with people was empowering. To hold space for ourselves and others to share is important for us to grow. We don't have to put on a brave face all the time when we truly don't feel like it. Sit with the uncomfortable feelings because there's always a lesson. Something will unveil itself for you to see.
Day 11 I feel very calm after visiting my family. They are without power but are doing well.
It's been an emotional week . The #yogagirlchallenge has been the calm in the storm. Fear, anxiety and worry have taken over at times. Every time I stepped on the mat it was coming home to myself. I sat with these emotions instead of escaping them. I put my hand on my heart and felt it beat.
It brings me back home. It made me think of Elizabeth Gibert's book Big Magic swipe. It's magical how your mind will give you a sprinkle of it when you need it. It's your intuition saying "don't forget you learned this" and brings it back to you.

Day A day late due to power outage but thankfully it's back. We survived #hurricaneirma . My family is safe and some are still with out power. Minor damages in my area were trees fallen and my back yard fence was tore up but some areas in miami were hit hard.
I had a quick 15 min stretch for back pain and legs up the all is amazing to relieve pain. Bending one knee at a time to your chest relieves tension.
I hope everyone is safe and next comes today's post..

Day Safely home and having a giant sleep over weekend with my roommates and their families. Having so many people over has been extremely distracting from the news and enjoying each other's company.
Thankfully we have each other. I snapped this picture after taking a quick 15 min to stretch and breathe. I am so thankful for the people I live with. They truly are amazing people. We've been there for each other through out this craziness. We've calmed each other down, talked our fears through and most importantly love each other tremendously. Day MAM is ready for Irma (at least I hope ). The winds are picking up this afternoon. Enjoying the last sunshine we will have before it hits.
