70°F here in NY today. Snow forecasted tomorrow.
1st thought: Why the f$*k don't I live somewhere snowier.. I could be skiing powder
2nd thought: I don't mind 70° at all, but not this time of year. Spring has been encroaching on winter earlier each of the past 22 years I've been visiting/living in the Adirondacks. We need the seasonal differences to ensure sufficient water supply, to protect extremely delicate alpine ecosystems, and even to protect our food. The world is trying to send us a message and we continually ignore it. I've dedicated my career to the environment/water and will continually work to protect our future. : @cassiewells_
When I first started backcountry skiing, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it. I was caught up on skiing potentially only one run a day. What I didn't expect was how rewarding it would be: breathtaking views, good cardio, and access some extremely unique terrain not often appreciated. And even though there are shitty days, for each bad day there are 5 good days. Here's the group from the 2016 Chic Chocs trip charging up the sketchiest face of the Wall of the Patrollers - a beautiful and remote part of Quebec!
@cassiewells_ , I am beyond grateful to have spent the last 3 years together. To be with someone who appreciates powder days, dogs, earning your turns, and waking up at 3am to hit the trail by headlamp is truly a blessing. So thank you for being my partner in crime/adventure! To our past adventures and the many to come!
It's official! Starting in January, I will be working for Arcadis as a Water Resources Engineer in their Clifton Park, NY office. I surprised myself a little bit with the location, but everything happens for a reason and, for me, this is clearly the right job at the right time! Cannot wait to get to work and apply what I've learned here at CU!! I could not have gotten here without my Clarkson family. Thank you everyone for everything!
