Exactly a year ago today, we were in SF. Had my very first RCC bike hire- Canyon Aeroad, that thing was a bullet. The view of the Marin Headlands / the Headlands themselves were beyond words. Picture just doesn’t do it any justice.

Flights are booked, rental car reserved! Now figuring out Airbnb’s for the epic trip to Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon in late May!

The latest stats year-to-date. Feeling pretty good about it - between a full-time job and my injury! Pretty much doubled my elevation gain, and more than doubled my number of active days.

Can’t wait to get back to it. Slow recovery, but haven’t lost hope!

Neat view during the Tour de Bronx. Still counting the days until this fracture decides to heal up. Definitely demotivating, but trying to look for the small progress each day.

Hearing all about my parent’s recent trip out West was beyond inspiring. We’re now in the preliminary stages of planning a trip to Yosemite and Sequoia this summer! The sheer scale of the scenery out there just can’t compare to the East Coast.

Late summer vibes, remembering first time I tried out the CX rig. X-rays this week to see how broken bone is progressing.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🦃 THROWBACK. Way before my Rapha days, when I mixed and matched my old rowing gear to keep warm. Shouldering the bike on drive side haha! Humble beginnings. (Peep the Walmart headlight too) 😂 This was one of my first time’s up to GWB.

It’s rainy in NYC this morning so I dug up this priceless gem from 3.5 years ago when I rode fixed, was practicing track stands to look the part, and was overall clueless about cycling. 😂 I remember I got fried that day, needed more sunscreen. Also why did I have a fender on with 0 clouds in the sky? 🤔 haha

Can’t wait for the extension to Hunters Point Park South. Slated for Summer 2018, I think? Looks like they’re making good progress. Also, the lighting was clutch.

Different perspective on the bridge we cross every week.

Saddened to say that the fracture has gotten worse. At 3 weeks, it looked like it was coming together, but commuting into work and walking ~11k steps per day after the soft tissue damage healed, moved the fracture out of place. It was really deceptive because I wasn’t in much pain at all. It’s tough when everyone’s rushing to and from work and you feel like you need to move quicker. Doctor said to limit my steps to 3k. Talk about a difference.

Thankfully am NOT at the cutoff for surgery and my risk of arthritis is MUCH lower now than it originally was because the part of the fracture by the joint looks a lot cleaner than it was. Onwards and upwards.

Two weeks until the next x-ray. Likely off the bike another month at least. Oh well, more time to work on upper body.

“Cause boredom got a new best friend.” Counting down the days until I can get back on the bike. Doing my best to respect the recovery process though.

🐻 mountain foliage. It’s crucial to get out of the concrete jungle and just breathe in the Autumn air. 💨 🍁

Amazing to think how this used to be a station on the old commuter line from Putnam County. Just one of the many signs on the North / South County Trail.

After sobering news earlier in the week on the West Side Greenway, it was so nice to watch thousands take on the NYC marathon. The diverse crowd: from elite runners to recreational athletes looking for a challenge. The marathon truly embodied the spirit of the community.

Missing this view on the way to Wed. night cyclocross practice. Week 3 post-injury, a little less than halfway there to begin riding on the trainer. Bone is healing well based on the latest X-ray!

New post is live on the blog, link in bio! 🙏🏼 My tips for (literal) “Peak” performance - acclimating to altitude, done right!

Definitely recommend circumnavigating Manhattan at least once. Diverse scenery, beautiful this time of year, as you head towards the top of Manhattan.
