The Dodgers will be looking to punch their ticket to the World Series for the first time since 1988! Alex Wood will be starting and he hasn’t pitched for a while, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does today due to his groundball rate being low recently and the wind blowing out at Wrigley tonight. That back half of the lineup though😂. Go Dodgers!
They are now one win away from going to the World Series! Wrigley Field has always been electric and has given the Cubs a lot of momentum, but the Dodgers made sure to shut them down early. Yu Darvish had another good postseason start for the Dodgers, and this is exactly why the Dodgers got him! Their plan is perfection so far! His final line: 6.1 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. The Dodgers trailed early on with the Cubs hitting a Solo HR in the 1st inning, but Andre Ethier hit a Solo HR (1) in the top of the 2nd inning to tie the game 1-1! The Dodgers took the lead in the top of the 3rd inning with Chris Taylor hitting a Solo HR (2) to make it 2-1 Dodgers! In the top of the 5th, Chris Taylor hit an RBI (4) triple to score Pederson and make it 3-1 Dodgers! With the bases loaded in the top of the 6th, Yu Darvish drew an RBI (1) walk to extend the lead 4-1! The Dodgers scored two more in the top of the 8th with a passed ball by the Cubs catcher and a Kyle Farmer RBI (1) sacrifice fly to put the Dodgers up 6-1! The Dodgers bullpen was once again dominant as they have been throughout the entire postseason (except Stripling, of course he would mess it up). The bullpen hasn’t allowed a hit all series, and the first batter he faces he allows a hit. Jansen had to come in and clean up the mess Stripling created, which Jansen did with ease. Anyway, the Dodgers will look to punch their ticket to the World Series tomorrow for the first time since 1988! Go Dodgers!
A walk-off HR by Justin Turner!!! On the anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s walk-off HR in the 1988 World Series, Justin Turner hit one of his own! Rich Hill pitched a very good game as he held the Cubs to 1 run over 5 innings! His final line: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the 5th with Justin Turner hitting an RBI (7) single to make it 1-1! The game remained tied until the 9th inning. The Cubs walked 2 batters in the inning, which set the stage for Justin Turner to continue the magical season! He hit a walk-off 3-Run HR (2) to propel the Dodgers to a 4-1 victory! They will now head to Chicago up 2-0 and 2 wins from the World Series! What a game! Go Dodgers!
What a game! I hate these type of games 😅. Early on it was a very close game, and I was on the edge of my seat! Kershaw didn’t have his best stuff today, but he went 5 innings and allowed a 2-Run HR. He gave the Dodgers a chance to win, and it was a good move by Roberts to take him out after 5. His final line: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. The Dodgers couldn’t figure out Quintana as he seemed to dominate the Dodgers offense. They did get two runs off him in the bottom of the 5th with a Yasiel Puig RBI (5) double and a Culberson RBI (1) sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2! In the bottom of the 6th, Chris Taylor broke the tie with a Solo HR (1) to put the Dodgers up 3-2! Yasiel Puig hit a Solo HR (1) in the bottom of the 7th to make it 4-2 Dodgers! Later in the inning, Justin Turner hit an RBI (6) single that resulted in a play at the plate to score Culberson! He was initially called out, but Contreras was blocking the plate, so the call was overturned and the Dodgers were up 5-2! Jansen came in for a successful 4-out save (3) to seal the win! The Dodgers had to win this game and they need to win tomorrow as well to go back to Chicago up by 2! Take advantage of having home field. Go Dodgers!
*Rondon is supposed to be (1-1).
The Dodgers’ opportunity at getting revenge on the Cubs is here! Seager not being on the roster has affected how the lineup looks, but they’re just going to have to get through. This is the hump the Dodgers haven’t been able to overcome, so let’s see if they can finally do it this time around. Go Dodgers!
Here’s the lineup for the NLCS! A few changes occurred. Baez is out and Seager is out. Pederson is added to the roster and so is Culberson. Seager is out due to his back, and to be honest with you, that’s ridiculous. This is when players play through injuries because nothing is guaranteed and if the Dodgers get eliminated this series then he can rest his back all throughout the offseason. Someone needs to pick it up then because beating the Cubs will not be an easy task.
The Dodgers are returning to the NLCS! They sure messed up a lot of people’s brackets by sweeping the D’Backs! Yu Darvish was very dominant tonight and showed why the Dodgers were right to start him in Game 3 instead of Game 2! This was his biggest start as a Dodger and he didn’t disappoint! The Dodgers got him for this specific reason. He gave up 2 hits in 5 innings, and 1 hit being a bunt single in the 1st inning. His final line: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. The Dodgers got on the board early with Cody Bellinger hitting an RBI (1) groundout to put the Dodgers up 1-0! In the top of the 5th, Cody Bellinger hit a Solo HR (1) to make it 2-0 Dodgers! In the top of the 6th, the Dodgers got another Solo HR (1) to make it 3-1 Dodgers! That was all the Dodgers scored and Jansen came in to close it out in the 9th for the save (2)! The Dodgers bullpen was absolutely dominant and shut the D’Backs out! Great series by the Dodgers! Now they wait to see who they play in Game 1 of the NLCS starting Saturday! Go Dodgers!
The Dodgers will be looking to advance to the NLCS tonight for the second year in a row! However, it won’t be an easy task as they face Zack Greinke and the power hitting D’Backs in the home ballpark. The D’Backs know their ballpark helps them hit, so it’s up to Yu Darvish and the rest of the Dodgers pitching staff to keep them silent. The offense needs to continue their high production tonight and get to Greinke like the Rockies did in the Wild Card game. Bellinger needs to wake up and start hitting in order for that to happen. Go Dodgers!
Full Quote: “He’s full of energy and emotion…This is as good as we’ve seen him focus on every single pitch in the game and when you combine that with the skill-set that he has and the energy that he brings and, you know, he doesn’t only energize 50,000 people, he energizes everyone in the clubhouse. So when he’s in the box, when he’s making plays with his arm, his glove, on the bases, it’s exciting. He’s really come a long way and he cares so much about his teammates and I think the coaches have done an amazing job with Yasiel just kind of loving on him, teaching him the game. Now you have the trust and the openness and he’s all about winning.”
•Yasiel Puig has been red hot early on in the postseason! Is this the year he proves all the doubters wrong and shows he can perform on the big stage?🤔
Dodgers needed to win both of these games and they didn’t disappoint! Rich Hill battled in this game and he really made just one mistake which was a 2-Run HR by Goldschmidt in the 1st inning. He only went 4 innings because his pitch count was getting up there and the Dodgers had a big opportunity to score runs with Hill’s spot coming up. The strike zone was very inconsistent tonight as well, so that didn’t help his pitch count. The Dodgers got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Yasiel Puig hitting an RBI (3) groundout to make it 2-1 D’Backs! In the bottom of the 4th with the bases-loaded, Robbie Ray threw a wild pitch to score Forsythe and tie the game 2-2! A batter later, Chris Taylor hit an infield RBI (1) single to put the Dodgers up 3-2! The Dodgers put up a 4-spot in the bottom of the 5th started off by a Logan Forsythe RBI (1) single to make it 4-2 Dodgers! Austin Barnes then came up clutch with a 2-RBI (2) double to make it 6-2 Dodgers! Puig added on with an RBI (4) single to extend the lead 7-2! The game got close in the top of the 7th when the D’Backs hit a 3-Run HR to make it 7-5 Dodgers. In the bottom of the 7th, the Dodgers scored a run off a D’Back error to make it 8-5! Jansen came in for a 5-out save (1) to secure the Dodger win and put them up 2-0 heading to Arizona! Go Dodgers!
This is an important game to win. The Dodgers need to win so they can be up 2-0 heading to AZ because anything can happen in AZ. The Dodgers will be facing Ray, who they haven’t been able to hit, as Rich Hill will be on the mound for the Dodgers. He was very good last year in the postseason and looks to continue that success. The lineup is much better with the holes being filled. Let’s hope they can get to Ray early. Go Dodgers!
This was a huge game for the Dodgers to win! They set the tone of the series and showed the D’Backs why they should be afraid of them! Clayton Kershaw gave the Dodgers a decent start. He held the D’Backs to 2 runs off 2 home runs through 6 innings, but the 7th inning continues to haunt Kershaw as he has an ERA over 16 in the 7th. He allowed back-to-back home runs in the 7th, which he shouldn’t have started anyway. I was honestly surprised to see him come back out since he was at 92 pitches already. I’m sorry, but that’s just bad managing right there. Take Kershaw out as he has some confidence. It went from a good outing to an average outing. His final line: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K. The Dodgers exploded early in the 1st inning with a 4-spot led by Justin Turner hitting a 3-Run Bomb (1) and Yasiel Puig hitting an RBI (1) double! The Dodgers put up 3 more runs in the 4th with a Seager RBI (1) single followed by a Justin Turner RBI (4) single! A few batters later, Yasiel Puig hit an RBI (2) groundout to score Seager and make it 7-1 Dodgers! The Dodgers got some insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th with Corey Seager hitting an RBI (2) triple and Justin Turner hitting an RBI (5) single to make it 9-4 Dodgers! What a game for Justin Turner going 3-4 with 5 RBIs! Tomorrow is also a must win for the Dodgers. Go Dodgers!
