I don’t know about you, but I’m excited about this! Hopefully he can follow the footsteps of Dodgers rookies who have had success in the last 2 years! Now this doesn’t mean he’s going to be in the starting rotation, but he’s going to be given a shot.

Marcell Ozuna is coming off a year in which he hit .312/.376/.584 along with 37 HR and 124 RBI. He is also great in LF as well as he had 11 defensive runs saved and 10 outfield assists. The Dodgers were willing to give the Marlins better prospects than other teams for Stanton, so it seems like they may try to do the same for Ozuna. He would be affordable for the Dodgers as it seems he would be making $10.9 million in arbitration in 2018, and the Dodgers would have 2 years of control with him.
I’m not surprised by this. Unfortunately, Grandal has become expendable for the Dodgers. Austin Barnes took the starting job after an impressive regular season performance, the Dodgers also have Kyle Farmer, and they have two catchers in their top ten prospects. Grandal, 29, is in the final year of arbitration eligibility and he’s a Free Agent after 2018.
Here are the Dodgers top 10 prospects entering the 2018 season, according to MLB Pipeline! Who do you see making an impact for the big league club this year? Don’t be stupid and say, “Trade them all for Stanton,” or anything similar to that statement. Assume none of these players will be traded.
According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers are “in the mix” to acquire Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins. Before you get all excited, understand that showing interest doesn’t mean that they are anywhere close to a deal. Stanton is still owed $295 million and the Marlins’ asking price in terms of prospects is “shockingly high and somewhat out of touch with reality” according to rival executives. I don’t see the Dodgers taking on the entirety of Stanton’s contract and giving up their top prospects along with it, and remember that Kershaw is a Free Agent after 2018 if he opts out and will look for a big contract. The Dodgers are also trying to get their payroll down below the luxury tax which will allow them to reset it and avoid any further penalties. If the Dodgers are able to convince the Marlins of taking on at least half or some of the contract, then I can somewhat see the Dodgers getting Stanton, but the Marlins want all of the contract gone. The Dodgers can get creative though, so we’ll see.
Congratulations to Clayton Kershaw and @cody_bellinger for being the finalists for the NL Cy Young Award and Rookie of the Year Award, respectively! I don’t think Kershaw will win because of Scherzer, even though I’d give it to Kershaw even from an unbiased perspective. Bellinger is a lock for the Rookie of the Year Award though.
Here are the Free Agents for the Dodgers this offseason! Out of these six Free Agents, I’d be comfortable with having Morrow, Watson, and Darvish return.
•Morrow: I’m a little concerned with Morrow based on his history with injuries and he will be 34 next season. He was superb for the Dodgers this season and was a big part of them making it so far. I don’t think the Dodgers would give him a multi-year deal for the reasons above, but maybe they’ll take a risk with him. Remember, the Dodgers don’t have a good history with giving relievers multi-year deals (besides Jansen).
•Watson: I’d be fine with him coming back because he was a great lefty out of the bullpen, and I’m sure a lot of people didn’t expect him to pitch that well. He’ll be 33 next year and I can see the Dodgers giving him a 1-year deal.
•Darvish: Before you overreact due to his WS performance, think about what he did for the Dodgers in the NLDS and the NLCS. He was the reason why Kershaw didn’t have to go on short-rest this year. He has tremendous stuff and the big reason he struggled in the WS was because he was tipping his pitches so the Astros knew what was coming. That can be fixed. He wants to return to the Dodgers as he said being on the team helped him rediscover his love for the game and if the Dodgers don’t have to overspend to get him back, then I’m all for it. Plus, the only other elite pitcher on the market is Arrieta and I’m sure he’s definitely going to get his big payday.
Thank you to every single one of my followers! I made this account on June 5 of this year, and in about 5 months I gained 10.6K followers! Thank you to everyone who stayed loyal throughout the season! I can’t believe we made it this far. I’m glad you guys have enjoyed my account. It really does mean a lot to me. As we enter the offseason, obviously, I’ll be a little less active on the account, but I will still be posting any Dodgers news and updates that happen along with some edits. 2018 will be crazy for our Boys in Blue, and I can’t wait to experience it with all of you!
First off, congrats to the Houston Astros. Now, for the 5th straight year, the Dodgers come up short. Darvish was terrible, again. The offense didn’t show up. The Dodgers blew plenty of opportunities to score. Every single at bat that the Dodgers took, they looked like they were trying to hit 3 Home Runs in a single at bat. There’s not much to say. Their worst enemies were themselves, again. They had no fight in them whatsoever, and the Astros simply came to play. There will be a lot of “what ifs” to think about as we wait for the next season to start. Like Tommy Lasorda said, if you don’t win the WS, then it doesn’t mean anything. Oh well, as every Dodger fan has said for 29 years, there’s always next season. Go Dodgers!
Here it is! The last game of the season! The winner will be crowned the Champions and the loser will have all offseason to think about what could’ve been. Darvish looks for redemption this time around, and no one else is more fitting than having him finish it off! After what happened to him, having him dominate tonight will be sweet revenge. If he doesn’t dominate, then the Dodgers will have Wood and Kershaw coming out of the bullpen. Let’s make history tonight! Go Dodgers!
Looks like Puig was right, again! There will be a Game 7! The Dodgers and Astros fought hard this game, but the Dodgers prevailed as they beat Verlander! Rich Hill was great today, but he was pulled early again, which I’m not a fan of. Luckily, it worked out for the Dodgers this time around. His final line: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. With the Dodgers down by 1 in the bottom of the 6th, Chris Taylor hit an RBI (7) double to tie the game 1-1, and Corey Seager hit an RBI (5) sacrifice fly to put the Dodgers up 2-1! In the bottom of the 7th, Joc Pederson hit a Solo HR (3) to extend the lead 3-1! What a World Series by Pederson! Pederson, who had the worst season of his career, who was sent down during the season, is on another level in the World Series! Good for him! Jansen came in for the 6-out save, and this time he was successful ! Great game! The last game of the MLB season is tomorrow, and the Dodgers will be fighting to bring a Championship back to LA! Go Dodgers!
This game went back and forth all night. Kershaw didn’t have command of his pitches, specifically his slider. All of the pitchers in this game pitched horrible. The umpire was absolutely terrible, particularly towards the Dodgers. There were questionable decisions by Roberts. The balls are unquestionably altered, which affected pitchers who rely on their sliders. Jansen blew it again as the Astros are hitting extremely well against him. It’s a MUST WIN game on Tuesday or else the Dodgers’ season ends. Verlander is going to be on the mound, so the Dodgers blew their best chance of winning this series tonight. It doesn’t look good at all, Dodgers fans. The bullpen is destroyed. Everyone is tired. It just doesn’t look good. Go Dodgers!
