Sad to see this #legend go!! @davimillsaps has always been such a stylish rider on the track, and a class act off of it, as well. Davi and I have always been buddies, fellow tattoo fans, and have also made a ton of great images together. This one was taken right after he got his #factory ride with Honda, at his house in #georgia in 2006 for a @twmxdotcom cover and feature story. #fbf #bigtreat Here’s to a bright future outside of racing, Davi, and congrats on a great career
#fbf The stylemaster himself, Kevin Windham, back in 2006 for the cover of @twmxdotcom As I remember, just after we snagged this shot, K-Dub fired up his small plane, we took off from a grass field near his barn, and proceeded to circle his 800 square miles of property for an epic sunset flight. What a day! Ha thanks K-Dub!! #goodtimes #memories #lovemyjob
Now this is a proper #fbf ! As you can see from the sprocket marks on the bottom of the frame, this was shot back in the film days, when it was a little trickier to blend flash with ambient light, especially given that I was shooting on ISO 50 or 100 speed film. I remember this night at the Sacramento State Fair, shooting the #legend @nateadams741 . As I recall, my boy @jefftilt got me special access to a scissor lift, so I brought up my off-camera Quantum Q-Pak flashes, and shot this at a really low shutter speed to capture some of the fair atmosphere in the background. This has to be at least 15 years old, and I’m pretty sure I had some kind of spiky, colored hair when I took it
So, the answer to yesterday’s post with this shot; it was captured for a @Supercrosslive commercial, and lit by @jhn145 and his crew using a MASSIVE couple of “constant” cine lights from directly above. This allowed for the lighting crew to put the world’s largest soft box in between those lights and @crtwotwo , giving him this very interesting, softbox-style lighting, without any hard edges or shadows. In the actual commercial, the riders appeared to be floating through space... If you look closely, you can see the (extremely soft) highlights of the two main light sources in the reflection of his helmet. This was shot at ISO800 in 2005, I think not too long after I switched to digital. Thanks for all of the awesome guesses!! Car headlights was by far the most popular, followed by stadium lights.
Huge congrats to @tylerbereman for winning the @dirtshark #bestwhip Saturday! Every competitor absolutely killed it, especially given the heavy winds. After all of these years of shooting massive whips, whether on a bike or motorcycle, they just never get old!! #timeless #classic #whip #stillthebest
I can't even imagine what was going through @h_miller81 's head when he holeshot the 450 class (!) at his hometown race by a mile, and then went down hard in the first turn, with 39 of the fastest and most aggressive riders in the world directly behind him. Somehow, the hometown hero avoided disaster, dusted himself off, and passed 26 guys to finish 14th in the moto. What a #badass !!! someone needs to get this dude a ride! @lululemonmen #thisisyoga @mx.fails
#tbt 2009 to one of my favorite #sequence shots I've ever made. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; there won't be another human being like @travispastrana EVER! TP is the biggest superfreak/superhuman I've ever met. Arguably the nicest, most skilled dirt biker that has ever lived. AND he's amazingly humble and generous. I have more respect than words can explain for this guy. Good luck with @nitroworldgamesofficial this weekend, buddy! #sendit #downtownla #skyline #americanapparel #rooftoroof #goodtimes @redbull @nitrocircus #fmx #building #air
