'The only other copy of this work was presented to her late majesty Queen Victoria' - So reads the mysterious note found with the Archive’s album of 19th century portraits, ‘Indian Princes’. Thought to have been a gift to the monarch on the occasion of the 1897 Diamond Jubilee, a selection from the four volumes of photogravure prints have been reproduced for ‘Indian Treasures’, now showing at @gettyimagesgallery until October 7, 2017. A high-end photomechanical process developed in the 19th century, a photogravure is produced by exposing a transparent positive onto a copper plate - the image appears, etched into the plate, through a series of acid baths. Inked and wiped, the print is then produced with the remaining pigment in contact with paper. 📷: Hulton Archive/Getty Images

“Amongst the sea of images we have produced this week, this fantastic image by David Ramos (@davidramosgetty) of Correfocs performing on the eve if Catalan’s National Day certainly stands out. He has captured the moment beautifully, using the light from the fireworks to his advantage as it illuminates the performers in the darkness of the night. What I particularly love about it is that if you gaze at it for long enough, intriguing details jump out of the frame, enticing you to ask questions. The details in the costumes, the expressions on their faces, the skulls at the top of their poles, the small hooded figures facing away from the action. What exactly is happening here? It is this ability to provoke curiosity in the viewer that makes great photojournalism and is one of the reasons I enjoy working in the industry.” - @bekahdownes | London Picture Desk | September 10, 2017 | #EditorsChoice

““London Fashion Week is one of my favourite times of the year. Beyond the glamour of the runway it’s a fast paced environment which gives me the opportunity to tell a story. Be it runway, backstage or the front row I challenge myself to capture images with a unique and creative edge. At college, I was told that if you can present a piece of work which says everything without an explanation then, job done! This I hope, is one of those pictures that in a way sums up fashion to me. The model vs the photographers.” - @mikemarslandphotos | February 14, 2014| #GettyFashion

“This image was shot backstage at the David Ferreira AW17 show at Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week back in February this year. I was immediately stopped in my tracks by this amazing model looking like an exotic otherworldly creature in this bold oversized bright green fluffy coat. It completely enveloped her and made such a statement that I knew I had to photograph her. I made a couple of full length frames but didn't feel like I was really capturing the scale and impact. My eye was drawn to her bright red lipstick and unusual makeup, which really popped surrounded by this sea of green. So I moved in a lot closer and shot a couple more frames just focused on her lips and details of the coat, all of a sudden the image abstracted had more impact, by showing less it seemed to reveal more of the scale and vastness of this stunning design.” - @tristanfewings | February 20, 2017 | #GettyFashion
