These are the cutest houses 😍 I’m working on @nicolajdodd β€˜a #toskyequilt and it is coming together nicely. Think I’ll have a quilttop tomorrow 😊😊

Today’s little sewing project. The bird is from @thepatternbasket and called β€žFeathersβ€œ. The block came together nicely but the cutting instructions are a little inconvenient if you want to make the full quilt because they just cover one block and not all. I really think it is best if a pattern covers both : one block but also instructions for the full quilt. Anyway, I love the results and maybe I am going to make another one. #feathersquiltpattern

I have a full day of uninterrupted sewing ahead 😍 I think I might just get up extra early πŸ˜…

A few weeks ago I finished this long term project. The only reason to use Essex linen as background was that I had run out of white. I’m so in love with it 😍 If you take a close look you will realize that I mixed up the layout of some of the blocks but oh well 😊 Backing is beautiful #theggoodlifefabric Pattern is #riseandshinequilt by @thimbleblossoms Prints are a mixture of #bonnieandcamille Oh, and scrappy binding 😍 #essexyarndyedlinen

First start to finish quilt in 2018. I ended up using soft green thread for my straight lines and a snuggly backing and blue binding. I don’t really enjoy the process of making straight lines, especially because I have lost a part for my walking foot, the left side ruler. Meaning, I can only move in one direction and have a huge amount of fabric jammed under the machine after a while. 😐 2018 has been very productive so far, I have three more finished quilt tops πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜³πŸ˜³ This pattern is called #phoenixquilt by @purplepineapplestudio

A lot of trimming has been going on, but it didn’t take too long thanks to fabulous #bloclocruler 48 pinwheels are going to make a cute throw size quilt πŸ’• #americanjane

I think it is safe to say that I have hoarded American Jane fabrics. It also is a fact that I have hardly ever used them even though I feel so attracted to their vintage feel. The pinwheel quilt I have in mind now is not actually going to make a dent in my American Jane stash, either. But it’s a beginning πŸ˜… #americanjane #sewmystash2018

Two years ago I started this #epp project. Even though I am a very fast hand stitcher it took me forever to make progress with it. Main struggle I had was that I couldn’t figure clever way to assemble it. And I really don’t like having a large bulky piece on my lap all the time. But it is done now and I am very happy with it, I ended up making this a crib size quilt. #paperpiecing #pamkittymorning #pamkitty

I am seriously in love with the quilt I’ve been working on these past few days. I just love the colors. I’m planning on a solid turquoise backing and dense wavy quilting in turquoise thread. Pattern is from the book #vintagequiltrevival , I just added some white fabric on both sides to make it a little bigger. #geometricslidequilt

This quilt top came together in an afternoon. The pattern is called β€žPhoenixβ€œ by @purplepineapplestudio which obviously attracted me because Phoenix is a second home to me. Now, how to quilt it? I’m wondering about thread color πŸ€”πŸ€” Maybe different ones, light and dark? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” #phoenix

Comment on from one of my kids when I laid out the finished #norwayquilt : β€žI like that Pac-Man quilt you madeβ€œ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Seems the snowflakes look like monsters in that game πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Anyway, I love it ❀️❀️ Fabrics are mostly #thimbleblossoms #bonnieandcamille #bonniecottonway , backing is a pre-washed gingham by B&C

Say hello to my first finished quilt top of 2018 πŸ˜ƒ It came together in a breeze and I love the happy colors of #seasidefabric by #octoberafternoonfabrics . Pattern is by @woodberry_way and called #starkissesquilt Too cute 😊😊

Very happy how my first #frenchgeneral quilt turned out. Simple wavy line quilting is always a favorite because I love the way it looks after crinkling. Pattern is by @thimbleblossoms from the second book. It comes together very smoothly.

Happy early Christmas to me: @quiltersdream sent me this amazing selection of battings as a makegood gift for the trouble I had with wool batting that bearded. Also, they sent me a check to reimburse for the quilting effort. Great, great customer service, thank you! (And no customs, yay!) #makeallthequilts

I see some pretty quilt backs in my future 😍

Got this one quilted today. My #fabrichusband helped with basting, makes all the difference to have two more hands. Found that nice and perfect backing on sale at @aquiltersoasis . Now decide on binding. 😊😊 #thimbleblossoms #vintagequilt #simplyretrobook #frenchgeneral

Happy stippling went on this afternoon 😊😊 I’m wondering if I should do a scrappy binding. I have yards and yards of Bonnie and Camille binding strips left over. πŸ€”πŸ€” #riseandshinequilt #thimbleblossoms #bonnieandcamille #bonniecottonway #scrappyhappy

Hey friends, @quiltersdream got back to me about the bearding-problem. They apologized and offered to reimburse for quilting and material. I’m glad I found out why it happened. This is part of their Email:β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” β€œI am so very sorry that the Dream Wool is bearding on your quilt. This is NOT normal for our batting. The Dream Wool is thermally bonded to prevent bearding and shifting. However,we have gotten a few calls about this problem, and we believe that some of the Dream Wool may have been shipped in June and July 2016 that was not bonded sufficiently, and the wrong type of wool fiber was used. We are very concerned, as we had never had this issue before!”

Update about my wool batting drama. Thank you for all your sweet comments and advice and support! I have decided to not unpick the quilting. Instead I spent several hours today to do what I did in the little video: remove what is like a wool felt spiderweb by hand. On both sides 😳 I think I can never wash the quilt again but it can be displayed somewhere like being bedspread. My hands hurt. Also, I wrote an email to the company and I’m eager to find out what they have to say about the problem. Maybe it was just me washing and drying it at a too high temperature. I’m disappointed but not desperate to have had this happen. Life is good. There will be more beautiful quilts in my future. And I think it’s just wonderful to feel the support of the lovely quilting community all over the world. So thank you 😘😘

Thank you all for the input concerning my β€œbearding” problem (learned new word) πŸ˜ƒ As a first action I used a clothes-brush and ended up with this much wool. There’s still a lot of it peeking through but it’s a lot better. I might go ahead and wash it again. Maybe I made a mistake with tumbling it dry at regular heat πŸ€” Instructions say β€œtumbling cold” was okay. Swipe to see the batting I used. Never again πŸ˜•

18πŸ’¬

Hey friends, I have a question: I used wool batting for this quilt. After washing and drying it is covered in wool-hair all over. It basically peaks through the fabric everywhere. I’m not sure if I shouldn’t have dried it nor do I know, how to get rid of the problem. Any ideas?
