Yesterday’s session (16th day of my commitment) with my friend, and an awesome teacher, Daniela Escobar, was about creating spaciousness in my body and letting my Center lead the way, letting go of worries and judgement about my back and quads being so tight.
While this video wasn’t from that session, this shortspine exercise is exactly about all of the above.

Day 7. what came up today were topics of boundaries, forgiveness and trust (in timing). #pilates requires a deep focus inside, it requires presence for control (thus the term “contrology”) I respect and accept my body, through its tightness and extra layer, and accept that I’m not going to feel as awesome as I know it can be. It looks like it’s easy but it’s not. While my profession is one in which I offer expertise for others to train their bodies and minds, I am a human being like you. I aspire to maintain a healthy and spiritual relationship between my mind and my body. I want you to know that this is possible. I aspire to manage what may cause me stress; to lessen pain and increase pleasure, so that I can be at my whole best. I’m imagining you would want that too! Video by @genhwong

In order to reach certain life goals, I’ve made a deal with myself to practice my own pilates for 21 consecutive days. The cooler weather makes it very challenging as my body loves to tighten up even more (not in a good way) and i just want to hibernate . My desire to find more freedom through grounding is greater than my immediate discomfort. My reward will be finding ways in which I can be appropriately more flexible with my #mindfulness, and with my outlook...from the #flexibility I find in my body.
As within so without. As above so below.

Let your light shine bright. Do not let the challenges and struggles of life have their way with you. Many people say they want to be happier but may not be up for letting go of what they know.
When you chose to live a happier and more fulfilling life, some people may not be up for what it takes to get there, because it seems like status quo is to keep complaining, to remain in suffering and that’s where they want to stay. You may have to part ways.

SO. Seems like the sick is going around. Here are my weapons of choice. Mainly immune boosting and inflammation fighting arms. Add fresh ginger, lemon and cayenne to the tea. Do you know why so many people crave and delight in dessert? It’s when sugar meets fat, just like our first ever meal, our mother’s milk. And why is this even more mind blowing? Because this milk is the ONLY time in nature where fats and sugars occur naturally. In nature, you either have producers of fat (i.e. bacon, nuts, etc...) or producers of sugar (i.e. fruit, potatoes, etc...). Mother’s milk, is 50% fat and 50% sugar; people crave and delight in desserts so much because it’s reminiscent of their very first meal in life outside of the womb!!! So give yourself some slack, you’re not a sugar addict, you are just reliving those very first moments of being nourished
