The Head Tilt: dogs do not ignore! This position is a head tilt and is doggy language for "hey I'm not trying to cause any problems!" When a dog averts eye contact and turns away, or holds their head away they are communicating that they want to avoid any aggression/conflict. To let your dog know you are not interested in a conflict and to ease them, sigh yawn or turn away. The head tilt is a positive sign that your dog is accepting his submissive role. Communication is 🔑in successful training!
🐾 Training of the day: the down command is your friend, use it FREQUENTLY! "Down" is the most dominant command and places your dog in the lowest physical position with little to no power. This will improve your leadership position with your dog and he will be more inclined to follow you. Being dominant with your dog is the best and ONLY way to form a strong bond. Your dog wants you to be a leader! ❤️
Dog training is a continuous process! if it's not applied regularly, the work you've done goes away... that is also why you can't drop your dog off for a training "week" or "camp" pick them up and have a beautifully behaved dog. YOU have to be involved and YOU have to administer rules and understand doggy language to have a well mannered pup so get INVOLVED!
Shot from this mornings walk. We had a little bit of attitude today with the leash training but ended on a good note!
What you see here is a very poorly filmed game of HIDE N SEEK! I strongly encourage dog owners to play this game every once in awhile for many reasons:
1. It's a mental game for the dog, a brain teaser that will physically and mentally tire them
2. It's fascinating to get a glimpse inside the mind of a dog and this is a great way to do so!
3. It builds a healthy relationship and strengthens bond between owner and dog
