As the descendant of African slaves, white slaveowners, western Europeans, Cherokee people and Jewish immigrants, my complex lineage makes me categorically and proudly American. On this Martin Luther King Jr. day, it's important to reflect on the humanity we share: the thing that bonds us and calls upon us to practice empathy and understanding, no matter how different our circumstances are. It's all we got.
We at @TIMESUPNOW are asking that wherever you are, whoever you are, please join us and wear black in solidarity today! This is a global movement! We all stand together to say #timesup on the imbalance of power and the abuse and discrimination that comes with it.
Share your stories and pics using the hashtags #TIMESUP and #WHYWEWEARBLACK. For more info check link in bio @kerrywashington @tessamaethompson
