When he came across the species, evolutionary biologist Dr. Vazrick Nazari knew what he had to do. "With its hair tufts, its presence in US and Mexico, and its fragile habitat that needs conservation, I really did not have any choice with this one other than to name [the moth] after Mr. President-elect himself," Nazari said.

Whatever the threat, it can't match the deliciousness of this walnut!! So the warning cry goes out but with some distraction---the nut is enjoyed just the same.

Just wanted to give you Miss Vickifans a quick update. She's doing well despite some single digit temps, and she gets lots of food from me since everything is covered in snow! I'd like to take this opportunity to share some info I've learned about feeding squirrels in case you'd like to help your little backyard buddies. Best things are nuts in the shell: walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts (Vicki loves black walnuts and acorns which are native around here). Cracking the shells are good for the teeth, but crack them if you want to watch them eat them instead of running off to bury them. Apparently peanuts, sunflower seeds and corn are of little nutritional value. Chocolate and raisins can cause liver damage, and squirrels have a very hard time digesting bread so no no to those! (I believe this would also include cookies, cakes, and other baked goods). There is what I've learned in a nutshell! Experts don't always agree and there's some conflicting info out there, but everyone seems to agree on these basics. Oh, and get a heated birdbath or de-icer if you can -- water is important too!!
