"We live in a world where unity seems impossible. Togetherness seems to be a joke because everyone disagrees on everything. However, I believe that unity is quite possible. You see, unity is not the absence of differences. Unity is recognizing that we are different, but moving past those differences to see people for the masterpieces they truly are," say @grace_deitrick. #LIVEUNITED

#OTD in 1961, Anna Mary Robertson Moses, better known as “Grandma Moses,” passed away at the age of 101. Grandma Moses painted and donated "The Red Feather" to her local Community Chest in Troy, New York in 1948. The painting features young school children engaged in rural pastimes and gathered around a flag pole flying the red feather symbol for Community Chest (later would become #UnitedWay). Grandma Moses was an avid supporter of community fundraising, and, in 1955, at the age of 93, she was the guest of honor at the Community Chest Campaign kickoff.
Of Moses, museum curator Lee Kogan wrote, “her unbroken faith and positivism carry a universal message—the importance of family and community—that will always be timely.” #LIVEUNITED #GrandmaMoses #UnitedWayHistory #CommunityChest
