Flashing back. January 11th. FaceTiming with The Nigerian Bobsled Team!!!!!! Changemakers, @seun_msamazing @ngozi.onwumere and @akuomaomeoga Smart, beautiful, and gracious women. African women. Ka Chukwu gozie gi n’okporo uzo gi . Before leaving for my adventure, I bought this ticket for the monumental event this evening that is #blackpanther. Why? Because I believe in active support to effect change. I’m so excited for this film and the energy surrounding this magical moment. I truly cannot wait to see it when I get back home. Congratulations to all involved- @chadwickboseman @lupitanyongo @danaigurira @michaelbjordan @letitiawright @danielkaluuya @im.angelabassett #ForestWhitaker and #ryancoogler at the helm. Without even having seen a single frame, I already can’t wait to see what happens next. What a time!!
Last night was awesome. One of my absolute best friends came out last night for the #sagawards. @iwildflower not only are you a superb art maker and fiercely intelligent debater, but you help define what sister/friends, teammates, ride-or-dies, prayer warriors, inspirations, and just plain supporters means. I pray I offer a piece of the same to you. Grateful for you beyond the beyond. To use an oldie but still a goodie: we did THAT! Love you, lady. Long live The Suite! #bestfriends #foreverfriends My girrrlfriendsss...
Before there was Galinda, there was this...man, to be a kid again.
I know without question everything I am is because of the incredible support, guidance, and encouragement I was given every step along the way. I hope every kid gets to have a Donna Rozon(choreographer) and Roland Bessette(coach) in their life to help shape them for the better on their journey.
There’s no place like home... #tbt #iceskating #love
Put your cape on. Today, this is #WhyWeWearBlack:
We wear black in solidarity with men and women asking for equality, respect and meaningful change within all industries. I am wearing black because I believe we are the change we reach for, the change we seek.
Join us today in wearing black and saying #TimesUp. #whywewearblack
The clock’s been ticking on the abuse of power. I stand in solidarity with women across every industry to say #TIMESUP on abuse, harassment, and assault. #TIMESUP on oppression and marginalization. #TIMESUP on misrepresentation and underrepresentation. Be the change. Read and sign the solidarity letter, and donate to the @TIMESUPNOW Legal Defense Fund: Link in bio. The Time. Is. Now.
I had the distinct honor and privilege of visiting the Smithsonian’s African American History Museum last night. What an exceptionally well-crafted, well-curated institution. It was a truly breathtaking and humbling experience. I encourage everyone to go and bear witness to the names, faces, stories, events, and resilience that are so artfully and carefully displayed on The National Mall. Just superb. I can’t stop talking about it. As I walked and wandered, I couldn’t help but think about Dr. Maya Angelou having written once that, our passages “had been paid for.” You can see the yield of that truth in this space. Thank you, @timothyanne and #TheSmithsonian for this pleasure. An absolute must see. #research #fieldtrip #love
