Did you know if you’re 41 or younger you’ve never experienced a normal climate, not even once?
The last time it was cooler than the 20th century average was in 1976 when Gerald Ford was President of the United States. The first Star Wars movie had just started filming and Steve Jobs had just founded Apple computer in his garage. If you were born in the 1980’s, you grew up in the warmest decade ever recorded. That is until the 1990's, where every year was warmer than the 1980's average. And each decade has been hotter than the last, right up until today.
If you’re in your teens, almost every year of your life has been one of the hottest years ever recorded. 17 of the 18 hottest years on record have occurred since 2001. This is just the beginning. What may seem “normal” today will soon feel anything but. These are #climatefacts share widely.
Happy #internationalwomensday ! I’d like to honor one of the many badass women in my life: Andrea Rogers. She is the @youthvgov lawyer for me and several other youth suing our government over #climate change . Thanks for your hard work- we’re going to win this! #youthvgov #womensday #seeyouincourt

The question of the last few years has not been “do we have a case” but rather “how far will the federal government go to prevent justice.” We have seen that they are willing to go to many lengths to cover up their crimes and maintain the status quo, but not even the Trump administration can go far enough to escape the inevitable tide of social progress. The Ninth Circuit’s decision affirms that we are on the side of justice, and for justice we are moving forward. #seeyouincourt #youthvgov #julianavsus #ourchildrenstrust
Today the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the Trump administration’s “drastic and extraordinary” petition for writ of mandamus in the landmark climate lawsuit, Juliana v. United States, brought by 21 youth supported by Our Children’s Trust. The Court ruled that the Juliana case can proceed toward trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon and that the Trump administration had not satisfied the factors necessary for an extraordinary writ of mandamus. #youthvgov
Our Executive Director and Co-Lead Counsel for Juliana v. US rocked it last night at her keynote for #PIELC2018! Check out the video recording on our Facebook page. #youthvgov

#Repost from @ingridskjoldvaer with Juliana v. US plaintiff Kelsey in the Philippines! #youthvgov
Last year I got to know these truly amazing and inspirational women. In the US, Kelsey is one of 21 youth suing the Trump administration. And in the Philippines, Joanna is urging for climate justice after she and her community in Tacloban lost friends and family to typhoon Haiyan. Now we are here in Joanna’s hometown to tell the stories about how people all over the world are promoting change and saying no to big polluters. Change is possible!
Our Children’s Trust photographer Robin Loznak does more than capture the magical moments and people of #youthvgov. Check out one of our faves of his from somewhere near his home in Oregon!

A safe climate & livable future are possible. We want everyone to understand that this reality for our youth and future generations is in reach. Check out this presentation we designed for distribution to schools, teachers, students, & other groups for use in support of deeper conversations about climate recovery & the remedy being requested in Juliana v.
