Key voting dates in 2018. People will write books about what happened in the 2018 elections. Will you be part of it? What have you committed to do? Your engagement is key to our democratic process.

Yesterday, President Grantham spoke to the American Council of #Engineering Companies today during their employee leadership summit. Heavy focus on #transportation, and #rural broadband.

Always great to see industry in full bloom here at the Capitol! 👍

Congratulations to State Senator Jack Tate for the passage of Senate Bill 22.

In January, Senate President Kevin J. Grantham (R-Cañon City) outlined the need to address the opioid epidemic during his opening day speech, stating, “It has claimed the lives of far too many individuals who simply sought pain relief from injuries and medical procedures, and to those it hasn’t killed, it has left homeless, unemployed, divorced, and alone. It has personally affected far too many of our families and communities, tearing them apart at the seams, and 2018 will be the year we address it head on.” Take a look at the bill here: http://bit.ly/COSB22

17 protesters staged a "lie-in" at the Colorado Capitol Tuesday. They represented the 17 students and teachers killed in Parkland, Florida and stayed down for 3 minutes, the time they said it took for the killer to purchase his assault weapon. The lie-in was both a memorial to those who died and a protest of hearings on whether more guns in schools are the answer. Three Republican gun bills were up for debate, the most controversial would have allowed those with concealed weapon permits to carry handguns in schools. Republican lawmaker Patrick Neville, the bill's sponsor, was also a survivor of the Columbine school shooting in 1999. He says that if his bill had been law at the time, the shooting could have been prevented and many of his friends would still be alive. But Democrats ultimately defeated the proposals in a marathon committee hearing. 📷: Sam Brasch/CPR News⠀
