And, despite having a similar ‘macro’nutrient concentration to plain ‘ol Russets - these purple beauties contain FOUR TIMES the antioxidants! Particularly anthocyanins that give it that gorgeous, royal purple color! •
Anthocyanins not only protect plants from damaging UV rays (among other things like metals and pests) - but there is a growing body of evidence that they protect US from the same aging, damaging rays. Ultraviolet rays cause the skin cells to produce enzymes that break down collagen and cause other types of damage, this accelerates the aging process. But anthocyanins appear to inhibit the production of these enzymes as well as protect against the structural damage that occurs from UV exposure (pyrimidine dimers). Today's client learned knife skills, how to sauté, how to roast, and add FLAVOR. 🍽️ We made roasted teriyaki veggies with @coconutsecretofficial sauce AND chicken rollups with asparagus and veggie basil sauce. 🍃This client has no prior cooking experience and she made this. 😍 Then of course we sat down to sample the goods. Big mistake.
I let my daughter have a smoothie at B&N. She’s on vacay from school, out with a friend and I caved when she asked. Big mistake. The sugar overwhelmed her body so fast. Total sugar high. 😩 She is so sensitive.
I don’t know how kids survive on so much sugar these days. Especially the kiddos who’s system can’t handle it.

Day 3: What the heck is the HPA axis!?
.
HPA stands for “hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal.” These glands work in harmony to keep your hormones and stress response regulated. Long story short, if you feel like you have all the symptoms of “adrenal fatigue,” your HPA axis might be off.
.
Your HPA Axis is responsible for handling your body’s response to stress and also regulates many of your body’s hormones, including thyroid and sex hormones. It gets complicated, so I’ll go into this more over the coming months, but it’s good to be aware!
.
Some signs of HPA axis dysfunction are low energy/fatigue, inability to lose weight, thyroid problems, salt and sugar cravings, exercise intolerance and hormone imbalances!
.
How do you support your body if you suspect your stress hormones are off?
✗ Sleeep! Make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep. You’ll probably need even more than you’re used to.
✗ Don’t over exercise. Your body might not be in a state to handle the excess stress of intense exercise. Be sure to listen to your body and take it easy!
✗ Destress. Meditate, breathe, journal, etc. we can’t always control the stress in our life, but we can control how we respond to it.
✗ Decrease inflammation. Focus on eating an anti-inflammatory, low sugar, blood-sugar balancing diet!

Information published in PLoS Genetics shows fathers may be partially responsible for passing on to their daughters the genetic risk factors for #ovariancancer. The new study looked at the patterns of #cancer within families. Researchers found that women had a higher risk of ovarian cancer if their paternal grandmothers were afflicted by the disease. Sweet potato hash for my mama, my littlest bear and I. I love cooking, it’s something I’m passionate about and maybe one day I will be a natural food chef but for now I’ll just enjoy making delicious good for you meals for my family + friends to enjoy.

It’s so good to have my man here this weekend. I’ve missed her silliness and her contagious laugh and the way she plays with my little bear 👦🏻. Now, back to this scrumptious @lodgecastiron hash skillet 🍳 it’s made with @chosenfoods avocado oil, 2 small organic sweet potatoes, 1 TBSP of @traderjoes 21 seasoning salute, 1/4 tsp redmondrealsalt, 7-8 organic purple Brussels sprouts, cut lengthwise and cook until tender. Add your pasture eggs and pop in a 350 degree oven for 5-7 minute. Sprinkle some #traderjoes everything but the bagel seasoning on top of eggs and enjoy.
A side of green juices + sliced @sweetscarletts TX grapefruit 👌🏽💯

Love trying vegan dishes, they’re an easy way of cramming your meal full of veg and plant based proteins, and I’ve found they’re cheaper to make than other dishes 🙌🏼 if I wasn’t such a massive fan of chicken I’d seriously consider the vegan lifestyle, but not too sure when that day will come 🤔

Used nutritional yeast (vegan substitute for cheese), grounded oats, soya milk and salt to make a creamy sauce, cooked the chickpeas in said sauce and sprinkled with roasted pistachios, served with some courgetti, low carb, low fat and moderate protein so perfect for anytime of the day 💃🏿🙌🏼
