We are thrilled to report that JACK was adopted last week after being in rescue for over 1 1/2 years due to behavioral issues. Jack is truly a great dog but had some deep rooted fear issues that caused him to withdraw and react negatively towards people. His adoptive parents are awesome, they took a chance on Jack and are dedicated to making it work. As you can see by these pics, Jack is enjoying a game of fetch already! Paws crossed all continues to go well!
A letter worth sharing! Happy Birthday FRANNY, always our TREASURE!
Dolores, In March, 2011 I was blessed with a beautiful Abandoned Angels dog, Franny. At the time she was called Treasure and was one of your emergency cases.
She was found a few months earlier stuffed in a duffle day and thrown in a dumpster. A passerby found her and somehow she made her way to your organization. She had multiple health issues that Abandoned Angels did not shy away from. I followed her updates regularly.
On Valentines Day that year my boyfriend and I were at dinner and he asked what I would really like and I told him about Treasure.
I applied and held my breath and thankfully you approved my application.
I met the transporter in Utica and this little Cocker shook all the way to Rochester.
She has been nothing but an angel for all the years we have had her. Her face is growing white with age, her hearing is not good, she has some arthritis and she now had Addison’s disease. She tolerates our little visually impaired puppy being at her feet all day and every evening curls up on the couch next to my boyfriend. She actually thinks he belongs to her.
As we celebrate her birthday with our family I wanted you to know how very much she means to us and how grateful we are that she is part of our family.
Thank you for all you and your organization do.
Foster/Adoptive Home Needed for BREWSTER!
We are looking for an active foster/adoptive home for our handsome black beauty, Brewster! Brewster has been patiently waiting in boarding for his perfect forever home, but sadly forever has not yet arrived. This young 3 year old boy is full of affection and energy, and ready to share his life and heart with you. Brewster loves to chase squirrels, and requires a secure fenced in yard so he does not disapear on a squirrel hunt! Brewster would prefer a home with no other pets or children, he would like to be the center of your world, and make up for loss time. If your heart and home has room for this beautiful wigglebutt, please submit your application at
http://www.nyabandonedangels.com/adopt-or-foster-application. Brewster is eagerly waiting to hear from you!
This handsome nine-year old male Cocker Spaniel with a great smile was brought to the Brooklyn NYCACC as a stray. He was microchipped and when the shelter contacted his owners, they did not want him back! Wow! Can you believe it? Now this unwanted boy will be heading our way! We will update once we receive his medical and behavioral evaluations.
DYLAN Some dogs are natural couch potatoes ... that certainly applies to DYLAN, he only wants to veg! Dylan is looking for a big, comfy couch, with lots of space to crash on! This super sweet 10 year old buff Cocker Spaniel is affectionate and very laid back. Dylan is not a couch hog ... he’ll make plenty of room for you! Just give him a little belly rub and he’s sure to snuggle up close. Dylan can live with cats and dogs and even little humans. He is a healthy boy who has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots and has tested heartworm negative. He has even had a dental cleaning and been professionally groomed. If your couch has a open spot, Dylan can keep it warm for you! To adopt or foster this handsome senior, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.nyabandonedangels.com, where you can complete and return an application online. Dylan is ready for some TV time and is happy to share the remote!
PRINCESS Greetings, everyone! Can I tell you a secret? Nobody ever stops being a PRINCESS just by virtue of age. Let’s just think about Princess Grace (aka Grace Kelly) or the bevy of princesses living in Europe, who are not necessarily young. I will admit, Kate and Meghan are glam, but they’ll still be that way at 80! So please cut me a bit of slack and also give me some credit. I am a 9 year old fabulous Princess who right now needs a new home. I did have a home, where my family loved me, but their baby was allergic to me and I had to be given up. Currently I am in foster care, where I’m getting the royal treatment. My foster describes me in a variety of ways (and all of them are accurate): sugar sweet, gentle as a lamb, and also happy as a clown. I really am the complete package. I can go to a home with small kids, there actually are some little ones here, with whom I often play. As you might expect, I come fully vetted (I am spayed, microchipped, current on all shots and heartworm negative, and even my teeth have been cleaned). I am a pretty down to earth Princess, so I do not need a castle. I need only live in the throne of your heart and to be loved by you everyday. To take me home, please email email@example.com or visit www.nyabandonedangels.com, where you can complete an application online. Let’s begin our real life fairy tale, as a Princess I’ll show you the way!
CHRISSY Hi everyone! My name is Chrissy, I am a petite, young Cocker/Cavalier cross, 4-5 years old, which is always a very desirable combination. I am very loving and affectionate, but almost to a fault. You see, I do not like to share attention. In my last home, I loved my owner so much that I tried to protect her when anyone came near. One day I took it a little too far and nipped my owner’s sister. I guess blood is thicker than water (no pun intended, as I did break skin), so it was decided that I had to go. I promise to share better next time, all I need is another chance! I am a healthy girl who is spayed, microchipped, current on all shots, and heartworm negative. If you are an experienced, adult only home (no other pets) and would be willing to do a little work with me, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.nyabandonedangels.com, where you can complete and return an application online. I would love to be your everything, I hope you are the one. Love, Chrissy xx
COOKIE arrived at our Vet clinic and his medical needs are being assessed. We are currently waiting on his blood test results before surgery. Look at Cookie all shaved down, bet he feels like a different dog! Thanks to everyone who contributed to to his medical care, Cookie has $365 in his piggy bank to put towards his surgery.
POPPY UPDATE 3/14: Poppy’s surgery went well and she is resting comfortably but she is not out of the woods yet. She is still in critical condition. When the veterinarian opened her up, he discovered a foreign body (6 inches of cloth matter) that she must have ingested and it started to perforate her intestines. The Vet had to remove over a foot of her intestines and reattach it. Please continue to keep Poppy in your prayers and send healing thoughts her way! Thank you.
URGENT PRAYERS NEEDED FOR POPPY!
Poppy was rushed into emergency surgery today at 3:25 pm after an abdominal sonogram taken this morning revealed a mass that couldn’t be clearly identified and her white blood count is climbing (35,000) despite being on IV antibiotics and fluids for two days. It could very well be an abscess from her recent spay or something more significant. Her foster mom is with her and beside herself nervously waiting. Please say a prayer for Poppy and send healing thoughts her way! Poppy is fighting for her life!
URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR COOKIE!
Abandoned Angels is being hit with a nor’easter of seniors with medical issues. We were contacted by our local shelter about Cookie, a 10 year old male Cockapoo that was surrendered with a bleeding RUPTURED ANAL GLAND or possible anal mass in pain and discomfort. He must go to a vet ASAP for immediate medical care. Cookie is sadly another victim of neglect to come our way! He is filthy, severely matted, and has long curling nails in addition to being left suffering with untreated medical issues. Though we are inundated with medical cases, we couldn’t turn our back on Cookie in his time of need and must ask for your support to help us rescue him!
If you are able, please consider making a donation to help us provide Cookie with emergency medical care.
Our heartfelt thanks for your support.
