@kryptoknight42 came to visit Perth. Many years ago he did what many Perth people do and escape to Melbourne only to return briefly to talk about how Melbourne is so much better (nicer weather, less sun). One day all of Perth will leave and go to Melbourne and the prophecy will be complete. Also we got pizza. #selfie
The last selfie of 2017. It's over and we survived. Here's such a wonderful group of people to bring the new year in... except the guy in bottom right. He seems lovely but I have no idea who he is.
2017 for me was good. For the world it was terrible but personally I achieved a lot. I travelled to Melbourne a few times, Sydney, 5 states in the USA, met friends from the internet I've known for 5-15 years. I celebrated a year of the most wonderful relationship I've ever had. I got published for the first time. I worked on a lot of creative projects and although a lot remains unfinished I have a clear direction for where I want to take my writing in 2018. I have done a lot. I will continue to do a lot. Life has stability and purpose. The future is going to be so damn good. Happy new year. May 2018 be amazing. #happynewyear #selfie #friends #2018 #party
Throwback to an Easter protest against how our government mistreats refugees. People come here to flee persecution and get stuck in indefinite detention in horrible conditions. Even when their claims as refugees are verified the government refuses to let them come to Australia. The government will even refuse to relocate them even when New Zealand offers to take them in Prime Minister after Prime Minister. High rates of depression and self harm affect men, women, and children as they languish in indefinite detention. The UN has labelled it torture. Innocent people suffer while the government demonises them. These are human beings our government has decided to either torture or turn back to persecution and potentially death. Several months on from this protest and nothing has changed. Our government has a hard line policy to be deliberately cruel as a deterrent, using misinformation about refugees to distract from the real problems that face us. This is our national shame and the world should know that we have imprisoned people for years with no charge and no known release date. #bringthemhere #refugees #manusisland #asylumseekers #auspol #nauru #indefinitedetention
The year is ending. Throwback to the beginning of 2017 when a small crew of people drove into a sandy section of some pines away from roads/homes and filmed some clips from the upcoming trailer for @twintownseries. Good times. Here's Andrew doing what he does best: apply more blood. #filmlife #throwback #yearinreview #twintown
Last night I saw a preview screening of The Disaster Artist with a Q and A with Greg Sestero (Mark from The Room). The Disaster Artist was amazingly funny. The funniest movie I've seen all year. I need to rewatch it just so I can get all the lines (a lot were laughed over by the audience). You absolutely must see it but be sure to watch The Room first. #thedisasterartist #gregsestero #theroom #lunaleederville #selfie
The plebiscite is dead. Voting has closed. May the Yes have a resounding victory and all the hate and fear mongering No campaign pamphlets be burned or recycled and used to print LGBT+ books and anti-bullying pamphlets. May the no campaigners retreat into the shadows and realise that the slow march of progress and equality cannot be stopped by propaganda and hate. Literally nothing the No campaign has said has been based on fact and it's sad to see so many people swayed by misinformation. But that's over now. November 15th Australia hears back from the ABS to hear if love wins. #coalitionformarriage #voteyes #marriageequality #plebiscite #auspol #postalsurvey #postalplebiscite #fire #ssm #lgbt #lgbtqia
Near the end of my US trip I went to lake superior and then Amnicon falls. Incredibly pretty. Also when you fly into Australia one of the customs questions you need to answer is if you've been in any wilderness areas/in contact with farms and farm animals so this plus riding a horse meant I had to take my shoe off for a customs officer to inspect how filthy it was. I passed the test and was let back into the country with no further issues. Entire thing took a couple of minutes. Worth it. #nature #amniconfalls #amniconfallsstatepark #river #americanadventure
My Nana has dementia so we're selling her house to help fund putting her in an aged care facility. To help sell the house we need to get rid of the garden so I took a ton of photos for her to remember it by. She loves gardening. Gardening and my Nana are two deeply intertwined things. For as long as I can remember her garden has been this ever changing and impressive work. I would search through it as a child for caterpillars or eat fruit she'd grown on her many trees. When she moved house to be closer to us she turned a pool into a sunken garden that you could climb in and out of. My siblings and I would raise snails and try to find the frogs that lived hidden in the deep foliage of her giant garden. Then she went to a retirement home she had less space to work with but she still would fill every outside space she could with plants. She has a sign that says that being in a garden is the closest to God you can be on Earth. Her mobility isn't great anymore and it's coming until summer so this garden isn't looking as nice as it used to... and now we're tearing it up. It was overwhelmingly nostalgic to walk through and reminisce on the past. Her garden was never permanent, never finished, always an ever changing work in progress, and now it's all coming to an end... It feels like we're destroying her legacy.
